I really want to quit meth, but I don't want to be depressed all the time and gain a mess of weight. I have been on meth for 22 years on and off. I went off it for 3 years once. another time 1 year. can someone give me some advice or suggestions. I am 45 yearsold and want to stop this shit.

personally, i don't have any experience with meth, mainly cocaine and opiates.. i'd say if you are serious about quitting meth go to your local detox facility, then join support groups, go to meetings etc... or check yourself into a rehab for a month or two and then when you get out join support groups etc. sorry i couldn't be more help just my 2 cents

^^agreed, theres no real substitute programs for meth like there is for opiates (bupe, methadone)... go to rehab... it will be tough, but if you really are serious about this you'll just have to take the pain for a while, also cut ties with friends who take meth, maybe move to a different area where there isn't much of a "meth scene" so you have a smaller chance of relapsing when you get out....

be strong

Hold up, you stayed clean for 3 years?

Likkeeeee, lets get a little technical. You were CLEAN? or just the meth?

Cause if you managed to stay 3 yrs clean it sounds like to me like you discovered what keeps you sober, maybve you just fell off and need to get barck on?
Rediscovery may be in order.
Of course im totally ignoring a billion other dynamics here, but if you pulled it off for 3 yrs, retrace those steps. Start doing whatever that was.

Given how long you've been using it, I'm guessing that your whole lifestyle is caught up with it and that you're going to have to make a lot of other changes apart from just not using. Rehab's really the best place to start in that situation because it sets you on the path to thinking and behaving like a non-user.

Well first of all let me tell you an addiction that long will not heal quickly. In fact, you might get one or two permanent effects!

but listen. Stopping is better than driving.

From personal experience I recommend doing your best to discontinue any relationships you have with current meth users. That is what helps me the most, cuz if i dont kno anyone who does it, i dont do it.

Join the bodybuilding.com forums. A proper diet and exercise will help you not become fat and will also help with depression. Proper Diet and exercise are both really good for depression and coming off of drugs

thank you

I guess I was not clean totally, because every so often I would have some drinks.
Meth is so addicting.

I strongly recommend telling as many people as possible about your problem. It is next to impossible to quit on your own.
