Heroin Vomiting on Heroin

When I was much younger (I'm 50 now), I was given Vicodin for a bad strep throat. Since I had strep, I had not eaten in quite a while. Well, the Vicodin made me puke, and I puked so much that I became dehydrated and every time I lifted my head off the pillow, I would puke again. I finally went to the ER and they gave me something to stop the puking, and they gave me fluids. My point being, if you get dehydrated, the puking can lead to more puking. Be sure your friend is staying as hydrated as possible.

Thanks for your replies.

Puking has stopped (finally). I knew heroin could cause nausea, but I never imagined 15mg would have someone puking for ~16 hours, even an opiate-naive person. I actually found out she's had 60mg of codeine before (two T3s) and didn't feel anything... Which is supposedly equipotent with 10mg morphine, which has got to be pretty much equipotent to 15mg of insufflated street heroin, unless her gear was super potent.

So I'm not sure what happened. 60mg of codeine, feels nothing; 15mg of heroin, pukes for 16 hours. (I know codeine is super weak, but still, it should be the equivalent of 10mg morphine from what I've read, so it doesn't seem like she's SUPER sensitive to opiates).

Heroin is one hell of a drug.

shit thats strange....the few times i snorted H (it was very good quality) every time i would be nauseous, but not instantly. Like sometimes id vomit, sometimes not, but it was never due to the smell. In fact i love the smell and burn of H.....ah memories

I know nausea is normal, but is puking for 14 hours a cause for major concern? One of my friend's wants to take her to hospital, but I think it's unneeded because she's fully conscious and everything.

I know I received a lot of answers already, but I'm really caught up on the duration thing. Can someone please comment on the 14 hour aspect of it

:::facepalm:::

are you worried...? or, not worried???
i understand you're asking questions and trying to get answers about what could possibly be happening to your friends, but nobody here truly knows exactly what was in the H, so nobody here could truly be sure as to why your friends are vomiting for a day. if there are true concerns for their well being, they should have been brought to the ER hours ago.

I puked EVERY time I snorted H for about 8 months. It's not uncommon. The duration is, but my mom pukes for days off any opiates, so it's not unheard of. Incidentally, I've read that there is a correlation between feeling nausea on opiates and addiction. If they make you puke, you're more likely to become addicted. I wish I could find the source on this. If I do, I'll post it.

Is it considered uncouth to facepalm a facepalm?

The situation shouldn't need that much explaining... I think we've all been there: A friend is having a strange (but not dangerous) reaction to a drug, and we're naturally concerned about the reaction. IF the reaction is normal, then we certainly don't want to run to the ER. If the reaction is indicative of something bad, then we DO want to consider the ER.

You equating "concern" with running to the ER (and implying a lack of concern by NOT running to the ER) is simply sophomoric. I mean, this makes sense if she's clearly having a reaction indicative of respiratory depression, but vomiting isn't a severe enough symptom to send me running to the ER with a girl in my arms... Unless vomiting for 14 hours is unheard of. Which is why I made this thread: to see if nausea COULD last that long from H. And as it turns out, from what people say, it CAN. So, I'm glad I didn't have your logic; if I did, I would have brought my friend to the ER and would have had a bit of explaining to do (because believe me, I was really concerned for her)... Instead, I learned that puking for that long IS possible, albeit not common, and I chose to wait it out (not an indication of a lack of concern, thank you very much), and my friend is now fine.

I wasn't asking what the H was cut with -- I wanted to know if that level of nausea is a possible reaction to just H alone. And, from what I've read, it seems like it IS a possible reaction. Logically, it was likely just the H that made her nauseous, and it was unlikely to be a bad reaction to a cutting agent.

And I collected most of this info (and deduced conclusions accordingly), because of people's experiences in this thread. I am therefore quite glad with the result. Thank you everyone for your answers and experiences.

Sounds like you have a paychological response to the smell and sight now.
The only time I have ever vomited from heroin was I Iv'ed to much once and fell over and had an outrageous naesious episode for hours. Moral of the story is "know your limit, stay within it".

That sounds like a serious stretch, hah.

Absolutely. The more you puke, the more addictive? that's bullshit. Better find a credible source to back up such a claim.

IMO the most addictive opioid I've tried has by and large been morphine.... Like tommyboy said, availability is a factor. When you have huge amounts available to you, and your an opiate addict, and you like the effects of morphine, then it's probably gunna be super easy to get hooked.... and oh boy, how could I not mention oxymorphone, talk about a needy opiate (LOL! but in all seriousness it's nothing to laugh about, I would need to dose the oxymorphone like every 3-4 hours or go into insane withdrawals akin to fentanyl interpatch WD.... but that's just for me, everyone is different.

I think he has a valid point, I know for a fact that I've spewed on more than one occasion from KFC, and I think I'm addicted to that shit..

In fact i love the smell and burn of H.....ah memories

I always vomited in the beginning of shooting up. Ahh the smell, god. Yeah its been a while for that. From time to time I seriously get whiffs of dope and coke, like out of nowhere.

I've been getting nothing but "Clean Up" bags in NY and every time I think of sniffing I get grossed out and the last 4 times I did them I puked every time, once I tasted it in my mouth/nose I would puke....I haven't done any in 2 weeks because I'm mentally grossed out now....

Yeah. I know it's a stretch, but I SWEAR I've read that those who are more sensitive to opiate induced nausea have a higher propensity for addiction. I didn't read it on a random Bluelight thread either. It was probably some obscure bullshit article I stumbled across and found interesting because I puked EVERY time I did H during my first run with it, which lasted a year or so. At any rate, I can't find the article, so I'm sure it sounds like a bunch of BS. It did to me when I read it the first time...
