I wish I knew?
I've been getting into Video DJing lately and I really like it.

Anyone ever heard of VJ Roonie G? He has always been one of my biggest influences. I'm pretty much following his footsteps. This week I'm going to attempt to make my very own file, and if all goes well will be sharring it for constructive critism.

What does BL think about VJs?

I think this is where djing is going, but it doesn't really appeal to me, you know? it's just not real VJing unless you use projectors and movie reels. all those digital VJs are fakers.

LOL youre absolutely right! No splice, no spice!

Actually, I am being very sarcastic... "Digital VJs" are real DJs too ; )
And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the trend of VJing wasnt even popular untill the digital era?

Either way, lets try not to start up another round of "What makes a real DJ?!" Or in this case a real VJ...

IVe always been really interested in it beacuse I think the visual can really help set the vibe on the set you're playing....

When Im making a set I always have a visual in my mind of how the floor and venue would look to match the vibe im trying to make....Id especially liek to be able to control that in the middle of the set to add that extra flavor....

I have no idea where to start though....any pointers for beginners?

There are a few other mixers out there that are designed to handle m4v files, if you can afford it I highly recommend the Rane TTM 57-SL - it will last you a life time and (if you dont already) have Serato you can now buy it with the application that supports video files. (you can even buy the whole thing as a package for under 2,000gs if you search the web)

The biggest challenge imo is finding the music you want in the format you need... I'm still pretty new at it myself but I believe, if you cant find the song you want, you can still play other videos along with regular mp3 files... (for example, while your playing one mp3 track you could simotaniosly(-im a horrible speller but f it) be playing a video of the crowd, or of something else, im not sure how this is done but I am 99% sure it can be done...

As far as creating you own videos I'm screwing around with Vegas Pro for my desktop and Final Cutt Pro for the Macs. I am torn as to which one I like so far because both have there pros and cons as with any software program...

But yeah, Serato, Rane Mixer, 'tables was how I learned and seems to be the best way for me : D
