I was a God at that game. I used to use the 2 controller setup to play. I dominated everyone that challenged me.

LOL omg when i read this i coundn't stop laughing OMG thats mad funny

lol yeah, it actually got SO bad that we taped cardboard along the screen dividers so you could only see you own screen. it looked kinda awkward, but it worked nonetheless.

ahhh the good ol days, where videogames were life and school was an place to get high on dunkaroos and gummy fruit snacks.

goldeneye was a fuckin gr8 game, i spent many hrs in front of especialy the sniper shit iin the first level, but alas then perfect dark came along....2nd function 4 weapons n shit...i give goldeneye007 4 starz 4 its lack of 2nd functional weaponary:)

Interesting opinion...

The appeal of Goldeneye to me is not simply about the number of features or the quality of the graphics. It's the nostalgia that's attached to it. The countless memories, and the fact that it was the first 1st person shooter that I experienced of such epic status (I grew up with Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Doom, but Goldeneye was the first to leave a lasting imprint on my very livelihood).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Was anyone else annoyed that EA snatched up the Bond license after the popularity of Goldeneye, and went on to make the horrific multi-platformed Tomorrow Never Dies, World Is Not Enough, Agent Under Fire, etc., etc.
Just imagine if Rare had been left to make Tomorrow Never Dies...
Map: Complex
Weapons: Proximity Mines
I remember the arguments over Oddjob aswell, we used to ban him!
This game ruled.%)
I totally agree on the "fuck oddjob" rule. Every time I played, usually with my brothers, at least one of us reminded the rest: "no fucking oddjob." The two best characters, if I remember correctly, are Trevelyan and Siberian Special Forces, so you can blend in with the background in dark and light levels, respectively. Thats the trick. Especially if you're playing with radar off, which we would usually do, which makes looking at your opponents side of the screen a key strategy.
I still have my N64 in my room, but I haven't played for a while. I have no worthy opponents. Well, my brothers when they come to visit, but its not frequently enough. Any other opponent, its not even fair, I win 10-0.
Everyone thinks they were the best at this game, but I still contend that I am better. I have never consistently lost to anyone I have ever played.
Me and my friends used to play on "one hit kill" exclusively for 12 hour stretches, so I am almost impossible to hit and have killer accuracy.
I used to love reading the awards at the end of each match.
We would all eagerly scroll to the right to see the awards and then there would be roars of laughter or nods of approval at the various awards.
God fucking damn I loved this game.
They need to get this online so all you big talkers can put your money where your mouth is;)
a fuckin excelent idea=D
anyone remember "rise of the triad"?? it came to mind when rated E mentioned doom n wolfenstien there were these mushrooms that made u trip when u ran into em, and badass weaponary.close to tha quality of goldeneye/perfect dark (4 its time anyway)
You can play it online with certain N64 Emulators (I think "1964" has netplay). but it likely wouldn't be that great without an N64 controller. As far as the game goes, back when it came out (and probably for 5+ years after) I would give it 10/10. Today, it's unplayable for me. I'm so used to modern dual-joystick controllers that I can't aim worth fuck with the archaic N64 controller. It just doesn't have that same "wow" factor today with all the better multiplayer FPS games and innovations in the genre that have come into play since its release. I tried to play it and like it and everyone there (all with fond memories of the game from N64's prime years) agreed that it wasn't worth the effort it took to get an N64 to function long enough to play it. Mario Kart 64 and Zelda OoT have held up much better over the years than Goldeneye, unfortunately :(
In the words of Boris, I am invincible. I used to have 3 people team up and try to frag my ass.
Ha, Wolfenstein and Doom were the games I played a lot when I was younger. I got Goldeneye the day before my first day of 6th grade, it changed video games as I know it. I think FF7 might be my favorite all-time game, but Goldeneye has some sort of unique charm about it. <3 Definitely in my top 3 and best FPS.
I remember getting so excited finally beating everything on 00 Agent and unlocking 007 mode or getting the hard codes like invincibility (Facility in under 2:05 on 00 agent).
Not sure what my favorite level was probably either Archives, Facility, or Aztec. I think Control or Caverns were the most nerve-racking. Control was tough with the whole protecting Natalya thing and Caverns was so long that it sucked if you got hit by the drone guns at the end. On multiplayer, best level was stack. %)
I also had the fucking hardest time beating Cradle on secret agent. No other level on agent, secret agent, or 00 took me as long as Cradle on secret agent. I dedicated a whole Sunday to it. Once I killed Trevalyn, but was shot by some guards while on the lower platform. Twice I accidentally walked off the platform after shooting Trevalyn. It was ridiculous! Awesome game though! :)
Edit: Train was pretty cool too, tough on 00 agent though.
I've met the people you hang out with, so that's not impressive. It's probably like playing against a bunch of kids with downs syndrome. :D
This game was epic. I wasted so many hours of high school when I should have been bagging HS tail. But I have no regrets.
Rockets and proximity mines were chaos!
i liked goldeneye but i prefer perfect dark, because of the endless fighting AND the dope instrumental music that played.
Not my dope fiend buddies. My normal friends.
