i liked goldeneye but i prefer perfect dark, because of the endless fighting AND the dope instrumental music that played.

Perfect Dark was amazing. It took everything Goldeneye had, made it better, and added a bunch of new stuff. The weapons were bad ass. Remember the Dragon? Ordinary rifle, but activate the secondary function and you drop it. Later your enemy goes to pick it up and it explodes. Or the Cyclone! Remember that fucker? Open up that shit in someones face and they are good as dead.

PD64 did have Velvet Dark though.

But was NOWHERE in the euphoric simplicity genius of Goldeneye.
I thought the multiplayer in Conkers Bad Fur day was better than PD.
:!

At the time they were great, I couldn't fault them, and you got to drive the tank! Me and my friends used to have competitions at that 'runway' mission. We would just see how long we could last without dying and look at the stats at the end. Whoever killed the most enemies would die.

Remember in multiplayer you had the library level with basement? I cannot remember what it was called when you got both of them but there were lots of passage ways in the walls. That was the best level for proximity mines in multiplayer.

Bunker was also great. Just a great game, especially as I liked the movie so much. Now I can't stop hearing the music in my head.

Oh shit I just remembered that.

I was busy thinking of that yellow tinted camera used for controlling the Fly-by-Wire rockets.

I just found this video ("Perfect Dark 64 weapons"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsx9X9oBgV8

Brought back some memories. Particularly towards the end of the vid.

And also great for multiplayer, radar off and Golden gun. You could face a wall, hiding any visible clues to where you are. You could wait and watch their screen and when they are near you with their back turned... Hehe

Great fucking game when it came out. So many memories playing this with my friends. But I must say I tried playing it recently and its really awkward with just one joystick.

I spent a rediculous amount of time playing both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

One of the best moments was the Complex in Perfect Dark. There was a room that had a vent in Goldeneye that you could actually use to climb onto a platform in Perfect Dark. Well, one of the 6 weapons positions that you could customize controlled only the weapon spawn on the top of that platform. My friends and I would put the game on one-hit-kills and have a single falcon pistol on the platform. This lead to crafty strafing strategies down the pathway to the weapon spawn on the platform to try and hit the pistolman before he could get a successful shot off.

Good times

yeah this game was great. i'd have the neighbors over and we'd play like two rounds before they quit because me and my brother had all the spawn rotations memorized :(

like you could headshot him, then run to the next spawn and headshot him again before they could move. i think that was only in one level though.

i've always pretty much sucked at FPS games. at least with multiplayer.
i know a few of my friends and i played this game alot...can't remember too much of it vividly.

i do remember playing the living hell out of the single player game though. i was that kid that had the AI nearly down to a science and knew all the quirks, glitches, and shortcuts and such.

then i got a gameshark for the 64 and that just opened up new worlds as far as crazy shit you could do.

I spent many an hour on this game but many more on Perfect Dark.

Goldeneye was great but I still can't think of a multiplayer game to date that is as much fun as Perfect Dark with 3 friends.

Was anyone else annoyed that EA snatched up the Bond license after the popularity of Goldeneye, and went on to make the horrific multi-platformed Tomorrow Never Dies, World Is Not Enough, Agent Under Fire, etc., etc.

Just imagine if Rare had been left to make Tomorrow Never Dies...

Tomorrow Never Dies was such a fucking shit game. I didn't realise until I got it home that it wasn't a real sequel and Rare wasn't involved. So mediocre!

I remember when I was fourteen and lurking on the official Rare message board. All everyone ever used to talk about was Goldeneye. One of the mods/developers/whatever posted a thread one day and the basic gist of it was "We know you all like Goldeneye, but can you talk about our other games?".

haha

Donkey Kong is cool too.

Holy fuck memories just came washing over me. I fucking love Donkey Kong franchise.
