Vibram Five Fingers 'Barefoot Shoes'

I still like mine— they fit the pedal cages on my bike better than any other shoe. I do, however, question whether I bought the right style and color. Black on Black kso look like gorilla feet. I wish now that I had bought some gray on ______ in a style with less going on material wise.

^ Wrecking your calves? How so?

Pander, thanks for mentioning that, LOL. I'm going to be pretty careful with which colors I choose. :P

On that note, I didn't end up getting a pair this weekend, but I will be getting a pair very soon. Going to do some more research as far as which pair to get. :)

Walking in flats/barefoot makes your calves work more than they regularly would. A sudden increase in use 'wrecks' them, figuratively speaking.

I have tried on all the models of Vibram Five Fingers. The only ones that fit my feet correctly (I have one partially arched foot, one flat foot) are the Sprints. However, I absolutely LOVE them. Whenever I plan on going for long walks, runs, cycling adventures, water sporting, jumping in puddles, acting like a little kid on a playground or climbing anything, I take them.

They've got the friction of the suction cups on an octopus and the flexibility of your feet themselves. My favorite part about them is they are strong enough to not kill your feet on even the most rugged surfaces, but thin enough for me to forget to take them off when I walk in the house.

Only bad thing is I can't wear them to work. But that's perfectly fine. I'm running them ragged as it is.

Getting a pair at some point because I really do enjoy the feeling of the ground under my feet, only this is a lot more comfortable when the ground isn't soft earth and grass.

A friend i talked to had been wearing them for about a year... he is a huge fan.

Finally bought a pair of KSOs in black. Haven't worn them much as I have an injury on my foot and the Vibrams take the bandage right off. 8)

Lovin' them though, when I do wear 'em. Even tried jogging in them yesterday--My knees didn't hurt like they normally did whenever I've jogged in the past.

When people wear these things at the gym, it makes them look like they have monkey feet.

I finally got a pair of KSOs (yes, black on black :|), and like them so much more than the sprints. The linked front/ankle tension is simpler and more effective than the odd setup that the sprints have. And they're so much more comfy than my 'normal' shoes w/ orthotics.

I am so ready to get some Bikila's for my marathon training. When I get my paid next month I think I will splurge and finally get them.
Very excited :)

Why hun? What about running in bad weather? (all of my training for my next event will be throughout winter, as it is winter here now)

I keep thinking you're not living upside down on the Earth. Hahahaha, summer here = winter there.

Oh, but maybe you should grab two pairs then, when the weather gets nicer. Bikilas tend to be more hot than sprints and KSOs. They are meant for colder weather, the Bikilas are. Also, they are a little more breathy for those days when it's warmer than f*** out. Just my two cents; I can't wear the Bikilas, so I might just be biased. :P

Ahhh I see!! Very good advice, thanks hun. I think I will still start with the Bikilas, seeing as I actually do most of my outdoors running in winter, and run a lot less outside during summer, as summer in Sydney is way too fucking hot to run at all! I usually switch to swimming in summer :)

Thank you again for the feedback though!

I've been running around my neighborhood in socks lately. I have a few reservations about the Vibram fingershoes that are keeping me from just going with them (appearance, price, smell, etc). I'm looking for something that will allow me to walk/run/hop naturally on the balls of my feet but provide a little more protection than socks. They don't need to have the finger/toe spaces or anything, they just can't be stiff to where my foot has to adapt to the shoe's bend. Anyone know of something other than the Vibrams fitting this description?
