it is not a stupid question, many people think drugs are called depressants because they make you depressed. that isnt true though, drugs that a depressants are named so because they depress and inhibit actions carried out by the brain (i.e. youdeprr breathing is slowed). depressants lowers arousal and reduces excitability; depressants are also occasionally referred to as "downers" as they lower the level of arousal when taken. stimulants or "uppers" increase mental and/or physical function are the functional opposites of depressants

there depressants because long term you will become depressed and your organic machine body will rot and you will suffer cns depressant.
but enjoy the high while you have it.

They supress your central nervous system. This question could have been answered via your search engine of choice.... (Startpage is what I'd recommend, or if you're stuck with the status quo, you could use a traditional search engine like Google. This *might* be acceptable in basic drug discussion, but I dunno... they would probably refer you to the search engines as well.

The long and short of it, is that stimulants vs depressants is referring to the effect the drugs have on your central nervous system. If you don't know what your CNS is, please take this chance to do some extremely basic research about your body and how drugs work. If you have trouble with finding credible websites, feel free to send me a private message and I'll try to point you in the right direction but this is not OD material.
