venting and a warning

so... can't sleep and reading the article on Narcan reminded me of something. My brother died from taking someone elses Oxy Rx. He had never had opiates before as far as anyone knows... So the warning is Don't take other people's Rxs! they were not given to you ie calculated for your tolerance, body weight etc. I miss him a lot its been 2 years and i don't think about it most of the time. Just sucks. and to add to it every time i take my hydro Rx which i have for hip issues my family look at me like " are you sure its safe * head tilt* YES I am sure its safe its my Rx and I take the dose on the bottle. recently my dr moved me up to 10/325 since i have had the Rx a few years and mom and i were on a vacation together and she saw the new higher dose bottle and nearly had a panic attack.

My poor mom really has no clue about tolerance so she asked why i cant just take the 5/500s like i have before... Ok so again Taking anyone else's medicine is Not safe. if anything happens to you your family will miss you and you could make life much harder for anyone in your family who may ever legitimately need meds in the future. RIP Jared I am in grad school btw in case anyone is wondering and jared was in college

That's horrible, I'm sorry you have to go through this...

You seem to have a good head on your shoulders in regards to your medication, which is always good to hear.

Thanks for sharing this situation, bluemonkey; i can't pretend to know what you're going through, but I imagine it must be a constant struggle to medicate your chronic pain with that which took your brother's life

You are a strong-minded person. As long as you continue what you're doing - that is, taking your meds for legitimate reasons - you need feel no shame at the hands of your family's misdirected disapproval/skepticism.
