Dear BL Forum,

I was prescribed Venaflaxine(Effexor) for my Major Depressive Disorder and I believe that it’s been quite effective. I hardly get depressed except two nights a week which is great compared to daily. Are there any members who also take Vanaflaxine (Effexor)? What are your experiences and how do you rate it?

Side effects for me: Lower sex drive, difficulty urinating.

Didn’t work for me, took it at least 8 months, stopped because I would wake up in a pool of sweat each night

One of my family members was parked on it for 4+ years because of unbearable withdrawal symptoms (“discontinuation syndrome”)

But it definitely works well for some. I had zero withdrawal.

I take 125mgs of sertraline these days and that actually makes a noticeable difference which is more than I can say about the 15~ others I’ve trialled over the years
