Opioids Vein Valves - Tips say "Do NOT inject into Valves" - where are they ?

I have no idea where valves are in veins. I understand they are there to prevent backflow.
I also have never heard of anyone checking for or worrying about valves before.

However, what would happen if someone injected into a valve ? It sounds scary.
As an analogy, just imagine a flapper valve in a hose, and a steel shaft is forced right into the
valve mechanism - it would probably destroy the valve and clog the hose.

So is there a way to figure out where the valves are ?
Also - are they all over the place and in every vein ? In other words, lets say for example, a 4-inch vein
along the back of the Hand. Would it likely have a valve every half-inch . . . every inch . . just one
valve for the entire 4-inch segment . . or perhaps no valve ?
My guess is that only the large veins have valves and not the small, thin veins. But that's just a guess.

Thanks

Never heard of this...must not be an important thing to worry about or i feel like the 3 yrs Ive been shooting this would have came up at a certain point if it was something to worry about. Ive used a vein from top to bottom putting a hole 1mm apart from the last one so i must have hit a "valve" at some point, but Ive never had any negative effects from shooting besides the typical basic things that any shooter will get eventually.

Never heard of this before myself but it makes a lot of sense really. I think maybe this could be one mechanism for veins "collapsing".
I know the veins in your legs are FULL of valves. Because the blood has a very real potential to backflow with just the force of gravity. Nevermind all the walking and running us junkies do to get our fix.

Other than that. I've got nothing :3

Stay safe & much love.

You can't see the valves with your eye usually. You have to feel for them. It's hard to explain, but basically what you do to find them, is pick a vein you plan on injecting into. Squeeze with a few fingers, a few inches up the vein so you stop the flow of blood, then with your other finger, run it along the vein, pushing the blood out of it. Where the blood starts to back-flow, is where there is a valve.

How you can tell when you are actually IV'ing, is if you stick the needle in and go to register, and the plunger gets stuck, or the blood flow stops. That means you are in a valve, and do not use that spot.

Gives me the chills the thought of this.
