Is there anything OTC that can reduce vasoconstriction? I'm mostly getting it from d-amp and LSA among other things. Please don't give me a "well then stop taking etc" answer that would be my last resort. ty

Not sure what's OTC though, I'm sure you could get a lot of it at an alternative health store, or herb store, or a chemist or regular shop.

I would be careful - there are a lot of herbal remedies with little/no evidence base behind them, that have (often hugely) varying purity/active content, can have nasty side effects and can interfere with other medications. Herbal does not equal safe; many of our drugs come from plants, and many plants contain nasty substances you wouldn't want in your body - it is a very blurred line. I recommend doing as much research as you can on whatever supplement you choose, and never use a fairly untested and unregulated herbal product in place of a medication if you are unwell - it could be diasterous!

Not saying that all herbal stuff is bad, far from it, and not saying all prescribed meds are good - again far from it. But it is wise to exercise some caution :)

What sort of problems are you getting with the vasoconstriction? If you're not getting anything major, there's no need to treat it, especially with, as effie said, remedies that could make things worse.

L-arginine. though studies show that it may take up to 7grams or so to produce noticeable vasodialation
Niacin also helps.
also asprin.

Vasoconstriction is something tough to get rid of when it comes to stims and other powerful vasoctrictors.

It really bugs me and its tough to find an herbal supplement that does a good job when it much counteract the constricting properties of amphetamines

Effective Vasodilators

Are there any recommendations to counteract the vasodilation caused by stimulant use?

I've heard that theobromine in chocolate can help, and that it's best to get dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage (80%+).

Is there anything else that has a useful/noticeable effect, comparable to the effect caused by stimulants?

Or is mixing a vasodilator and a vasoconstrictor dangerous?

Are you getting any actual health problems from the vasoconstriction? Otherwise, it can do more harm than could if you just wanna treat it cosmetically when you don't really need it.

There's a lot of good posts in this thread which was posted recently though, if you want some recommendations on herbal supplements and stuff.

+1 for nAON's comments!

Are you actually experiences any issues cause specifically due to the constriction?

There are other effects caused by stimulants which one should be more concious of!

vasoconstriction

what is vasoconstriction and why is it bad for you? how do i know if its happening to me since i am taking vyvanse and is it dangerous?

Amphetamines can cause vasoconstriction. Vasoconstriction is when the blood vessels shrink, its the cause of the "pins and needles" feeling and "numbness" that some amphetamines cause.

Since you're taking Vyvanse, which is a prodrug for dextroamphetamine, there is a risk of vasoconstriction. However, there is less risk than with, say, racemic amphetamine/mixed amphetamine salts (Adderall) because levoamphetamine tends to cause more vasoconstriction.

Looks like we've gotten three vasoconstriction questions in a row, Shady Kaity, I merged your vasoconstriction + Vyvanse thread into the other vasoconstriction questions thread. :)

I've had to deal with vasoconstriction quite a bit especially cause I already have poor blood circulation.

For a long term solution: Exercise! Make sure you do 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. It's really the only way to ensure that your blood vessels always have a chance to expand. Lack of exercise alone will cause vasoconstriction over time.

For short terms solutions: Hot showers, turn up the heat, ginger tea, cayenne pepper, niacin, elevate your legs
