vasectomy

this shows a serious lack of empathy. birth control for women is typically hormonal and can come with a slew of serious side effects.

...then get an IUD. Not all forms of birth control are based in hormones.

It's her choice of course! I find it hard to believe that birth control pills come with serious side effects if the majority of women willing use them without complaining.

For the women that don't respond to it well, there's IUD's and other options of course.

In the future, there will be hormonal based male birth control options. Are you going to tell me I'd lack empathy if I said that he should just take a pill if/when that's an option for him?

Do you really think surgery is better than taking a pill? 8o Yikes.

also with their own potentially serious set of side effects.

i find it hard to believe that you would find an argument from ignorance to be compelling in the least. i invite you to take 3 minutes to read some of the threads that have been posted in the SLR forum about them to educate yourself about the issue.

no, for the somewhat obvious fact you'd be discussing his own body instead of cavalierly saying "just get her on birth control!" while obviously not understanding or caring about the issues behind it. i will also note that current male contraceptive pill research is into protein based solutions and is entirely different than hormonal control.

Do you really think surgery is better than taking a pill? 8o Yikes.

this is a false dichotomy. yikes.

You're talking as if all IUDs are not hormone based.
The more popular ones ARE hormone based.

And then why should a woman have to go through the issues of getting it inserted and dealing with the possibles risks when the dude could just wear a condom that doesn't come with ANY of that trouble?

Wash, it sounds like you want a vasectomy for ideological reasons, when really most people get it for practical reasons. The demographic for vasectomies is usually men in long-term relationships who have already had kids and don't want more. This is the 40+ age group, and they are usually already in monogamous relationships while having unprotected sex.

If you're not already in a long-term relationship then you could achieve the same prevention with a condom; a vasectomy is not going to protect you against STDs so chances are you would need to wear one anyway. And like others have said, the surgery is not 100% effective so you wouldn't be able to bareback anyway.

Don't trifle with surgery if you don't have to. It's invasive and a traumatic injury to your body, even if for medical purposes. And as much as I respect your point of view, I think you're still too young to understand the ramifications of what you're considering. Even if you don't want kids, you don't have to cut your tubes to assert that.

And FYI, vasectomy reversal does not always work. If you someday change your mind you might really regret it.

Wait many more years before deciding, seriously.

yes men in long term relationships, that have kids and dont want more!! this all the way ^^^^^ what this post said. if its to prevent mental illness from treading its way down the biological line then ..are you planning on getting somebody pregnant if not condoms my friend
