SWIM is trying to find a more convenient method for measuring vaporized doses of JWH-018 - weighing out 3mg each time gets tedious fast. Here is his idea:

-Prepare a solution of JWH-018 in vegetable oil (or a similarly inert carrier) so that one droplet contains ~3mg of actives.
-Add one drop to a lightbulb vaporizer and go from there.

Would this be effective, or is the vaporization temperature for the oil too high? Any ideas for a better carrier? SWIM considered using naphtha or isopropanol and letting the liquid evaporate in the bulb before smoking, but is considered that flammable or toxic vapors may remain even after all the liquid has dried up.

Stupid idea. Use ethanol or n-propanol, either are better choices. Isopropanol at the doses you'd possibly ingest won't hurt you. Even at higher doses, you'd get drunk and end up smelling like acetone for a few days (not to mention the horrible hangover it engenders)

The oil will hardly vaporize but gets mainly destroyed (i.e. degradaded) in the heat...and the AAI with it. It's an absolutely waste of substance!

Alcohols (EtOH, iPrOH) should work well, as would do naphtha. And one must not worry about flammable traces left, as these solvents evaporate quite easily and even more important: almost quantitatively! Both are also not toxic in the relevant concentrations. I would titrate the solution in such a fashion that 3 mg are contained in, lets say, 10-20 drops. This is accurate enough to measure it out and 10-20 drops of any alcohol are no problem with respect to flammability.

Peace! Murphy

Edit: See Wiki for some data on boiling points of oils. Like olive oil: Boiling point is given with 300 °C but the smoking point (that equals decomposition) is already around 190-210 °C...

Edit 2: Ah well, you seem to be new to Bluelight. Therefore just the kind request: Please don't use "SWIM" and alike. It's pointless and doesn't provide any legal protection.

good luck !
jwh-018 does not disolve in ethanol , and does not disolve in most natural oils either.
It will just lay on top , if you shake it and let it stand a while it will crystalise within the oil again (top or bottom depending on the oil).
so not a (good) way of weighing it out.
and not a good way to make fake hash-honey-oil either.

ipa works best , but ipa will be made into aceton within the body so ..yeah your smell will be acetonic.

doing some tests with HPBCD (UTFSE) and water mix soon ,
inspired by mouse99 tox report.

until then..

Try acetone. You shall be pleasantly surprised. It evaporates very quickly, and -018 is soluble up to ~35mg/mL @ 20C.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Acetone sounds very promising- MattPsy do you have a source for that solubility data?

...I would guess that the source for his data is a scale and some kinda volumetric measure (....errr, a beaker maybe). ;)

use propylene glycol

What is propylene glycol?

Propylene glycol is a commonly used organic compound that is recognized as generally safe by the Food and Drug Administration. It is used in food coloring, and flavoring, as an additive to keep food, medicines and cosmetics moist, and in machines that simulate smoke. In The e-Smokey Treats Electronic Cigarette, propylene glycol functions to provide the vapor mist that looks like smoke and to suspend flavor.
It works great in Electronic Cigarettes.
