Vaporizer dangers?

I have a homemade vaporizer similar to this:

I use it when I'm low on weed and need to got baked off a small amount, and had great results, but a few nights ago my friend overheated it and I found a small crack in it the next day.

My question- is there any possibility that it could be heated to an extent where it could shatter or explode?

Anyone have any experiences/ideas?

Yes man your shitty little lightbulb vape can shatter from being to hot. No offense or nothing...In fact im speaking from personal experience =] Damn thing broke dropped all my weed on the floor, very bad moment.

sure it's possible.

not likely, though. you're much more likely to melt any plastic pieces of your homemade vap' than to have it blow up in your face mid-toke.
