Salutations,
Once again this a time of the year when those of us who paid attention get reminded, or come to realize, that « légaleezation » has failed to unite society, while stigma remains strong even in families where alcohol always been normal and cannabis never will. The "4-20" of 2016 was most specially sad as it coïncided with an UNGASS event which the optimists expected to bring real progress upon us at last; yet just months before, the onusian FCTC/COP6 that was supposed to pave the way for health-wise alternatives to smoke declared war against electronic cigarettes instead so those would become the next century curse - and they have, thanks to politicians obsessed with their own image pretending to protect the nations treasure: children of future generations.
M'well, that's certainly not what happened in my $a¢rifi¢ed canuck province and serious/honest/respectful well-informed dialogs still ain't occurring so far.
A decade ago it wasn't clear what i might wish for when it's « legal » but now i do and hence here's the state of my long pondering to put some counterweight in the Halloween balance of 2025: it's called VaporaOK, a concept born from the contraption of "Vaporism" & "Karaoké"... And i can imagine the average reader thinking, WHAT?!?

Imagine an application designed to promote responsible vaporization that works like a karaoke game but actually covers these four domains related to cannabis: personal use, playful social animation, medicinal/medical assistance and research. In each case a user's goal would be to synchronize his inhalation with a vaporist model curve representing a session profile previously selected for global sharing... Participants would pick their favourite "coach" tool from a list featured with a variety of objectives, e.g. terpenes appreciation, etc. The model curve displayed on a large screen would include a tolerance band distributed around the main curve so serve as a guide but also measure performance objectively through deviation, expressed as a number ranging from 1 to 5 for example. Subjective ranking might even complete the evaluation with a rating assigned by popular vote (or a jury) between “A” and “F” — applied to a context of personal consumption the individual would simply register it as a function of his own personal appreciation, trying to explore aroma/taste (sensory criterias) for example, while in therapeutic/hospital/research settings the clinical framework would define its own criterias to be collected in the VaporaOK data-base.
Ideally, such application must include a vaporist simulator for newbies training, they'd use a couple keyboard keys or game controller analog triggers to mimic inhalation force (airflow speed and pressure) coupled with fresh air injection (the customized VG pipe type). Once qualified real practice becomes an option to add one's own recorded session performance to the collective catalog using an "Hybrid Unique Identifier" for convenient management that integrates a timestamp and possibly some contextualization class number.
Sharing with an audience public can be done through QR Codes if those only communicated short web addresses like http://vaporaok.org/coach/#############... Time granularity doesn't need to exceed 5 seconds and will accommodate a significant period lasting decades with an option to manually re-define the zero referal date. Basically the HUI is generated when inhalation begins, then once done the HUI becomes communicable as a QR Code besides plain text for automated or manual capture. If large enough camera located several meters away will feed its peer VaporaOK application with it and access the participant's session record which was just performed live in real-time so a discussion is made possible about it while still on stage.
The catalog's performance curve having its own specific HUI this can also prove most useful in associate a BarCode to it, to serialize a vial containing 1 cotton sample taken from the same inhalation performance. The purpose being data pairing after lab analysis of the captured aroma has occurred, so to enrich the knowledge base.
The HUI segment structure must be “robust” as a result of exposure to human factors in the environment, compressed high-order numerical base coding allows two types of localization depending on situation, in Canada the 1st half of a Postal Code would be vague enough and yet specific enough to simultaneously support anonymization and research, with the full version as a complement and idem for USA's ZiP Postal Code ideally; international telephone numbers is another possibility too.
As for contextualization there's room for quite a few: Alphanumeric, Client, Event, File, Hospital, Journalized, Karaoke (games), List, Message, Name, Postal (other countries), Reference, Universal, Vapor, Watts (energy), Address, Commerce, Special... With more variations to add.
The HUI's purpose is to ensure reliable serialization that virtually eliminates duplicate tokens and a time stamp is a fairly good thing to begin with, so... What would the application look like, hey?
Quite likely it must include a language toggle button (Français/English) somehwere in its user interface. At the heart of VaporaOK we'd find the [Replay] function, complementing the [Record] button that creates/opens a structured vaporist sessions .CSV file. These data files need to be accessible through the application itself serving as a decoder, to render it in a readable format. Consumers would get to choose a profile with a model curve, that's an inclusive approach promoting personal empowerment & growth compatible with socialization by ritual sharing where « Harm Reduction » becomes an ally, bridging the gap between personal and clinical use, with a strong element of participatory engagement to also enable communities.
Audiovisual biofeedback is the key to vaporist coaching here. A typical VaporaOK evening might begin with a ritualistic review of selected model profiles for newcomers, etc., and as mentioned previously the [Replay] button could fuel social animation thanks to immersive simulations guided by a validated multisensory strategy. After the warm-up intro novice vaporists then would get a chance to measure up by challenging champion performances, contributing in real time with their data indexed via QR Code for the benefit of enthusiasts ready to capture favorite sessions for future reference. Later a feedback phase would follow so that each participant can document their impressions and request a subjective rating from A to F. Suggestions for adjustment or exploration of untested profiles might emerge during debates, using replay to revisit key moments or provide explanations before the comments are collected in a database reminescent of former discussion forums...
As a bonus VaporaOK’s core mission actually ain't incompatible with capitalist business models — quite the opposite! Privileged access to its knowledge base would offer commercial partners an opportunity to refine their devices to better meet evolving needs in a competitive market. Such partnerships can not only fund the host service but also secure a coveted niche in this relentless industry where innovation is a strategic imperative.
Happy Halloweed!!
