Valium & Xanax

Recently, some idiot swapped me a gram for about 15 2 MG xanax & 5 Valium tablets.
I know that they're real because I looked at the bottles he took them out of, and looked the names up on the net VS xanax / valium and they matched up.
The question is. 2mg Xanax is quite a bit, isnt it? How much should I take? The tablets are designed to be cut into quaters so I'm assuming so.
The Valium is 5mg.
These are the real strong ones.
How should I take these? What can I expect from them, and are they good to take after a pill?

2mg is a good starter dose for Xanax but 5mg of Valium is going to do fuck all, even with no benzo tolerance. You probably need about 20mg of Valium to feel any effects.
Take them for a comedown, for insomnia, for a boring weeknight, they're pretty versatile drugs.
Expect mild euphoria and a slap-happy drunk feeling, but little memory of the good times esp. with Valium.

A gram of what did you trade him? If it's anything other then marijuana, I don't think it was a very good deal

take 3mg of the xanax to get the full effects, but not be too mashed to deal with it...
with the valium, take 25 or 30 mg for the same, full-force, but not uncontrollable fun
1mg xanax = 10mg valium (though, the subjective effects are indeed a bit different)

Thanks. I might just try taking 1mg of Xanax to start off with, as the pills are 2mg but can be 1/4'red as they are cut that way. I took 2 valium and felt quite woosy and fell asleep straight away. Perhaps just a placebo? But since I started taking them occasionally I feel a lot more relaxed and in control. Perhaps I should get some prescribed to me?

Sounds like you're handling the benzos good as expected... at first, they can just knock you out, making you a pile of dateRape fun but little function, yet after awhile you can enjoy the mellow and still go to work, operate heavy machinery, etc..
Should you get them prescribed? It certinly would be nice, but your chances of getting a doctor to prescribe you anything more then a small supply of the lowest dose Valium's (2mg, 5mg if you're REALLY GOOD) is not likely to happen - if you're under 25 you can change "not likely" to "not a chance" .. but there are plenty of other threads that elaborate as to how you script yer doc!

Or consider taking a vacation to some poor Afican country & have a benzo binge! I've managed plenty a time to score benzos directly from pharmacys there (sweet temazepam....):
Me: I need 10 20mg temazepams & 15 2mg lorazepam, please(they're always impressed when if you tell them the actuall substance name)
them: sorry but you need a prescription for all benzodiazepines.
Me: yes i know, of course, but it's bit of an emergency, because i'm just a dumb turist here & I got my handbag stolen with all my medication in it. See I've been on ativan for 6months now, for anxiety & inmsonia, my Dr. prescribed it & said it was dangerous to interrupt my medication. I don't know any other doctors here, Please...
Them: Uh, i guess its ok, then. Remember, these things are habit forming(duh!)
Me: Oh, thank you, yes I'll use them wisely, uh, how much will that be?
Them: $2.50, please.
