I went to the doctor 2 days ago and my BP was 140/80. She said the 80 was fine but the 140 was odd for a male pushing 18. I don't really have a history of high BP besides my dad who recently developed it in his 40s. I'm not asking for medical advice really but the doctor said I should detoxify myself from Stims, caffeine, nicotine and etc. I don't really do much stims besides the occasional coke but I smoke tobacco regularly on weekends. I used to smoke everyday but for a couple months now I stopped that.

Now part of the detox she said was no cigarettes and Dxm and hard liquor. So I shall refrain from these for the next month just to see if my High BP may have been drug induced or if it's actually a problem. Those drugs she said not to do are the ones I'm more than likely to do btw. She said even cut down on the weed or stop to see how my body really is on 0 drugs.

Anyway prior to that visit I took a total of 50mg of valium on Saturday(40mg) and Sunday(10mg) and a few beers with the valium on Saturday. And on Monday my BP was at that level.
I told myself that I'd only do valium, beer and mild-moderate weed on weekends now and refrain from any during the week.

To your bluelight knowledge do you think that the valium + weed + beer combo on the weekends will cause a higher BP? I'm not gonna have more than 2 beers a day on the weekend but I will take about 40mg valium to enhance them as I cannot drink in high amounts. I've read that valium can have a paradoxical effect and raise BP but I don't think this is so with me as I become pretty sedated whilst on it and up to today(wednesday) haven't gotten any rebound anxiety from the 'Binge' on the weekend. I also know weed works like exercise on the heart as it increases BP for a short time but with heavier doses it lowers it. I usually smoke a lot when I do.

So with valium, very limited beer intake and moderate use of weed do you think I'll be safe with not affecting my BP but hopefully LOWERING it?
I'm not trying to lower it by taking these drugs in just trying not to raise it.

I know many of you can't tell me for sure but speculations are good enough.

Weed alone can make your BP high.......cigs can cause BP to be high as well......stims are bad & definitely will raise your BP.

If you're mixing alcohol, weed, cigs & stims, its just multiplying the effects & will increase the BP & keep it there for days possibly.......remember, everyone is different & they affect people differently.

For me, stims are a definite no no.......my body & mind can't handle them, making my BP go to outrageous numbers, hence me not doing any stims for over 10 years......not even a cup of coffee or anything with caffeine.

I'm not gonna be doing stims I said! I know stims make your BP high. I'm just gonna be smoking small amounts of weed, drinking small amounts of beer and taking reasonable doses of Valium since I'll be drinking beer.

I was asking if that may affect my BP and cause it to raise.

Well, mixing alcohol with Valium in itself is dangerous........you increase the chances of liver damage & memory loss.......dizziness, drowsiness & ncrease the risk of an overdose.

When mixing all 3, you may become complacent, may lose control of your muscles........just be careful, you may blackout.

Weed & Valium is a good mix but adding alcohol to that mix could be a disaster.

As for high blood pressure, you should be OK, I think the Valium should be used the next day, after drinking alcohol. You can mix weed & Valium, good combo from what I've read & been told.

The main problem is you are mixing 3 downers which isn't good.

I know about benzos and booze. I'm not frustrated by you informing me as this site is for harm reduction. But I'm well aware of mixing alcohol and benzo and how dangerous it can be as I used to abuse Xanax last year and have lost many valuable items due to blackouts. I chose valium because it's always been more forgiving for me, much less amnesia.

For the record I don't think you can make a statement like "weed is a downer" as I believe it is a psychedelic. My friends have tried to convince me it's a stim. And I've felt more psychedelic and CNS depressed more than anything whilst smoking. Only stimulation is the paranoia and anxiety. So it can be pretty much all 3.

Yes you did say "you're mixing 3 downers" btw

Thanks for your input though.

Out of those, probably the cigarettes and liquor would raise my blood pressure more. Remember to drink lots of water because you're going to be outside in the hot weather. Since you're predisposed to high blood pressure, it's good your doctor is monitoring this. Did she suggest dietary restrictions as well?

I drink approximately 2-3litres of water a day as I exercise regularly and I'm on a calorie deficit where I only eat breakfast and lunch and skip dinner unless it's some salmon after the gym for protein.
I don't consume any snacks unless I'm stoned which is mainly on the weekend(I have to smoke a lot to get munchies) and as for sodas I probably have like 3-4 sprites for the week and orange juice every morning with my breakfast. I eat veggies and fruits but not as often as I should. I've lost a lot of weight recently as this is a new lifestyle of mine. It's all leading up to my total detoxification after summer.

You prob don't care tho.
But she didn't suggest dietary restrictions. She just said to detoxify yourself and next month she'll check up on my BP to see whether it may have been drug induced or if it's an actual health problem.

Downer=Central Nervous System depressant

You're right, weed is a psychedelic but weed can be considered a downer, a psychedelic or upper depending on the breeding & strain.......jmo!

Weed can speed up your heart rate & blood pressure, it surely had my heart beating fast depending on the strain.

I've always considered it a downer because it made me tired after a while.......weed is tricky because depending on your mood, weed can have different effects.

Lots of people mix Valium with weed so their hearts aren't pounding & they're more relaxed & enjoy the high.
