Valentines day is still shite and is nothing but a money sucking holiday!!!

You show love through daily activities and small gestures, not through grand ones once a year. I will protest this holiday until the end of my days. It just is a mugs holiday!!!!

I am quite in love atm and still would refuse to buy into the hype!!

Not true, Shams, I might buy you a chocolate bar, cook you a tasty meal but nah brah! NO HALLMARK CARD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It just seems pointless. Love is measured, given over time and shown through the tiniest gestures. That's what love is.

SUCK IT VALENTINES DAY!!!!! SUCK IT HARD!!!!

Only a suggestion to some of the ladies....... Just sayin' is all..........

And be in no hurry either.

if flowers and/or chocolates get you laid - i would fully support making it a daily ritual rather than annually

If you gave flowers and chocolates just randomly you're bound to get laid more often than on just one day a year.

I don't like the idea of being forced to buy things out of guilt!!!

I would buy flowers and chocolates, Cider and spirits for Mr. Sham any day of the year TBH. I don't need a day to do it, everyday is a good day to show someone you love them.

I hate the entire concept of valentines. GAH!!!

It's just an excuse for women to demand to be treated as they should be. Either they are treated this way all year or they are not. I also find it rude that the tradition isn't more reciprocated towards the men. Nothing wrong with some flowers, sweet things and a tasty steak dinner being prepared for your manly man. This should be done whenever the whim takes you several times a year......

ya know, because you love that person.......

Not just once a year but all year round.

I think 2011 was the last time I made some vague kind of effort, but that was only because she'd just taken me back and we were trying to rekindle a spark that just wasn't there. In any case, we just went out to eat somewhere local and cheap, out of laziness on both our parts rather than anything else. Not that I'm a wining and dining guy anyhow.

I don't recall any grand gestures, even with the person whom I guess was the love of my life, back in my early twenties. We did corny stuff every day anyhow, though we probably exchanged cards and trinkets just for appearance's sake. I still have some of that stuff, packed away in boxes that only ever get opened when you're looking for something else. A notebook I never filled, with an introductory page written by her. I also found a bookmark she made from different colours of card, with a near-perfect cartoon likeness of herself on it. I think I held it for ten minutes or so and smiled, then put it back where it came from.

As for sending cards to people I secretly admire, that's not something I'd ever do for fear of coming across as creepy as well as corny. In any case, there aren't many candidates at all, and they'd instantly guess anyhow.

The people who complain about Valentines Day are missing the point. Sure you can be all lovey dovey everyday, but this is a Romantics Grand Final. It is the Oscars of getting on to last weeks Bafta's.

This year we were supposed to be here, giggling in our tents, having sweaty sex while the bass thumped through the mountainside for 3 days.

Instead, due to being cock blocked by the mrs work kick off, we will spend the night wrapped in a blanket under stars listening to this

Either way I'm getting my end wet.

a holiday is only as important as one makes it. there are people going overboard fro any holiday, be it xmas or halloween, and those too can get disgusting.

i think most people outgrow the holiday phenomena at some point or other. but i do remember valentines being nice when i was in school and getting all misty doe eyed at some girl or other catching my eye that month.

errrrrmmm, nowt wrong with halloween!!!!!!!!!

It costs nothing to fold an origami tulip and fuck her doggie with the blinds open to the neighbours though

i like the way you re thinking.

sometimes just doing a small everyday show of affection on a special day can raise it up a notch on the romantism ladder.
just because it is aggresively commercial doesnt mean it has to be the same for everyone.
jsut saying

I'd actually agree with that too. As cynical and curmudgeonly as I am, I did have a heart once, and the smallest gesture like a note in my pocket would get me every time.

Nowadays I'd take whiskey.

Thats the point, it's all about the small free things in life. Its also an everyday thing not a once a year thing.

And yeah OTW, that sounds just about right!!!!!

just trying to say that a familiar small thing you may do in everyday life can count for a lot more on a day that some consider special. even if you do it normally.

the bad comes when you think you can get away with being lovely and romantic by jsut doing it that one single time a year ;)
