Hello everyone, I am kind of new to these forums, although I have followed it for years extensively and have always got good information.
Having searched around the Internet and Blue light for an answer to this question, I was never able to find a definitive answer from anyone.
The question is in short, can I use Tramadol to ease the pains of withdrawals during the suboxone induction period, and then after an adequate time has passed to take my suboxone and not feel the effects of precipiated withdrawals from the Suboxone.
As everyone probably already knows, before switching from any opiate to suboxone, you must wait a certain number of hours, which varies from person to person, until you are in moderate withdrawals to take the Suboxone. If you take it too early then you go into Precipiated Withdrawls, which from my past experience is withdrawals X100.
A little about my story, I am currently using Heroin as my drug of choice. I have used Heroin on and off for about 4-5 years, smoking it off foil (black tar). Within the past two months, I have finally graduated to the dark side even though I said I never would and have begun shooting it up. Seeing as my shooting up is getting worse day by day, ruining my veins, and needing more and more, I have decided to give quitting another chance.
I have successful quit in the past from Heroin by taking Suboxone and other times cold turkey. I have done the Suboxone way about 4 times. Two of those times, I took it too early and went into precipitated withdrawals, which is why I now have a big fear or phobia of precipiated withdrawals, which is why quitting and getting of heroin has been soo hard for me. It's the fear of the precipiated withdrawals that is the main agent in making me continue my addiction.
However, another big portion of not being able to quit, is the fact that I am basically a weak person I think. I can't stand even 12 hours of withdrawals, let alone 24 hours, I just can't do it most of the time and feel so shitty and start vomitting so much, that I reach for the phone and call one of several people who are minutes away to get my fix and say F the whole thing.
That is my main problem with Suboxone, I just don't have the guts or the preservance to get past the induction.
So I was thinking, and I thought of a brilliant solution I think that really has not been explored much on these forums or elsewhere.
What if I took Tramadol at the first hint of withdrawal to ease my pain and withdrawal symptoms. As we all know we can't get high off Tramadol with large opiate tolerances, however, it does seem to take the edge of and keep most of the withdrawal symtpms at bay.
The plan is to do my last shot, wait about 12 hours which is when the withdrawals really start kicking in for me, then take about 3-4 50mg Tramadols to ease the withdrawals and basically take them away. Wait another 8 hours, see how I feel and if necessary take about another 2 50mg Tramadols, at this point, these dosages of Tramadol are well within my limits that I have tested before in regards to the seizure threshold.
Finally, with withdrawals at bay thanks to the Tramadol, I will pop my first Suboxone around 2mg-4mg after about a good 30+ hours. This way I am guaranteed to avoid the precipiated withdrawals!
BRILLIANT IDEA right? Should I patent this idea?
My reasoning here is, and please correct me if I am wrong, or give your experiences, that since Tramadol is not a real opiate in the sense that it does not fully act of the Mu opiod receptors in the way other opaites such a Vicodin, or Morphine does, then the introduction of bupe should have no adverse effects on these receptors since there will be nothing or very small trace amounts on these receptors, thus the bupe can attach, without having to kick off anything currently there.
So the question is, has anyone ever done this method and what are your thoughts and experiences. Is what I am theorizing correct or incorrect?
Just to clarify, I am not talking about being on Suboxone maintencance and then taking Tramadol, I know that is OK and has no adverse effects.
I am talking about being on an opiate and during withdrawls during the suboxone induction period, then taking the Tramadol, and then after that taking the Suboxone. Will this work?
I am grateful for any responses that I get, since I am going to try this this weekend if I get back good solid input and experiences. Thanks all!!!!
