Good Day!
I am currently detoxing from opiates using Kratom. I am at the end of day 2 and feel decent. I have been doing 2 doses of 7 grams a day. I am starting to think i need more. I will keep posting as i progress. Any tips, Expieriences, or words of encouragment are welcome. Thank you.

Hey there, 2 days is great going!

My 2 cents is, if you are doing "ok" resist the temptation to do more kratom - use as little as possible, to get you through the symptoms, otherwise there is a chance of keeping the habit, just swapping the substance... There are people who have chosen to maintain on kratom as a "cleaner", legal option, but also plenty who ended up struggling with a long term kratom habit. Just be careful with it, and resist the temptation to ramp up the kratom intake.

You're doing great, just keep going :) Keep us up to date with your progress!

I do about 7-8g of kratom a day. It's better than coffee IMO. lol I obviously have a tolerance, but avoid trying to do more than what you've dedicated yourself to do. Kratom ( and this is me and my experience) makes me feel sick if I do too much (like another 8 grams at night because I'm bored). My kidneys feel sore, and I just feel physically ill. I drink some in the morning, feel great, and leave it at that.

I think kratom is a good thing for motivation and depression. I realize addicts go through a lot of shit during detox, and depression is one of the worst. Kratom keeps me motivated and kills any and all depression, but there is a line between a good dose and too much. Too much, and I get emo, depressed and ill. It's a weird feeling.

Congratulations on getting off opiates. I see nothing wrong with upping your dose as you see fit, some people have a different target/ideal dose, so there's no problem in finding yours. After a certain point (as mentioned above) you will just get sick/dizzy, so it's not worth it to take too much. Good luck on the rest of your journey and let us know how it's going.

I love Kratom! Bus as others have said, there is a ceiling, and many people on a kratom forum I frequent swear by the "less is more" mantra-i.e. they felt a significant uptick in pain management when they went from a dose of less say 7g to 3g. This is because the Kratom plant contains both an opium agonist and an opium antagonist. You need to find your "sweet spot," as the saying goes.

I'd start out at 3-4 grams of plain leaf and adjust accordingly. Check out the kratom thread in Other Drugs, it has lots of good information. The 80x extract should work much better. The idea is that 80 grams of leaf are used to create 1 gram of that extract. Your dose should be quite low. Some people don't have great success with extracts; I find plain leaf to be quite effective by itself.

Well, it is day 3. I have been sticking to my low dosage of 5gs, 3x a day. I am having a hard time keeping my dose down. Plug n chug just isn't working for me. I make some tea in my coffee pot. seems like it is keeping the sicklies away, but i used 15g, and keep straining. I read that teas are wasteful, so i think i am going to try the pulp in some yogurt, which i read was very palatable. As i type this, the tea seems to be working its magic. I don't get a physical buzz as much as i just feel so confident... almost like i could just fly into the air. Very mild, but way better than dopesick.

Thank you everyone, for the support.

Positive energy,
Ghost

If you can afford it, buy a capsule machine and a 1000 capsules. Takes a little time, but much better than stir'n'chug. Just keep in mind it takes about 30 minutes longer to kick in this way. But if you spend an hour or two making your capsules, it's much more convenient.

Yeah you don't want to trade addictions, but you don't want to go back to opiates. So I'd say keep your amounts in check, but if it takes a little more to feel OK - do it. Keep track of your usage, and after a couple weeks of kratom only, taper your K usage. Kratom is MUCH more forgiving when tapering off! So much more than the real deal.

Good luck - remember why you are doing it and stick to it.

What opiates are you quitting, op?

I am quitting a back no forth roxie/done habit. Would go back n forth between the two as to stay away from getting on just dones. I weened myself down to 30 mgs a day before trying this. So far, so good. If this works i am going to turn on a few people at the clinic to Kratom. Makes me so sad to think of people dealing with the horrors of addiction when theres a great cure available.

^Well, worst case scenario if you do end up "trading addictions", kratom is much less harmful by overdose potential and legality. I went cold turkey off morphine, dilaudid, and oxycodone several months ago and I still crave opiates at times. That part may never stop, but a kratom taper may help with the initial compulsive tendencies so you do not pick up again.

I'm skeptical that it can be touted as a 'great cure' but if it helps you and, as others noted, you don't acquire a new addiction, then do what you can.

Be very mindful though because you'll notice that there are folks that struggle with getting off kratom as well. Kratom - a Cautionary Tale! has a rather well written description about trying to kick kratom and the OP is keeping an accurate Blog of their experiences in kicking.

I hope it goes easy on you! <3
