I have a friend who has been using speed pretty much every day for the last 4 years. In the recent weeks he seriously started trying to quit. I commend him on this of course, but he has become very lethargic, hard to motivate, tired all the time, pretty much what you'd expect after stopping cold turkey after having used that long and that regularly.
He now wants to use dexamph tabs to deal with the lethargy, and I play a crucial role in that.
I am a bit on the fence about this, I imagine it could be easier tapering down and building a normal lifestyle again with the help of therapeutic doses of dex, but at the same time I feel like I could be fuelling his addiction.
The obvious thing would be to consult a specialist of course and I have urged him to, but this he refuses out of shame or perhaps just sheer stubbornness?
Would it be beneficial to his situation or is he better off sitting this period out and get on his feet in his own pace?
Seems like the typical 'my friend' kind of story, but it really does concern a friend. I myself would probably go for it, but I don't want to do him harm even though I understand his motives.
Edit: I will urge him to talk to a specialist after all, I feel too conflicted about this, and it's effecting his lifestyle in such a degree professional help would be a good idea.
