K2 and Spice are popular terms for synthetic marijuana peddled as legal weed. But to a 79-year old scientist who developed the compound that actually gets the user high, they are JWH-018, JWH-073 and JWH-200.

And he wants those seeking a legal high to stop smoking fake marijuana products. He supports efforts to ban these substances and legalizing-and tax-the real deal, according to a Los Angeles Times profile of the scientist, John W. Huffman.

"You can't overdose on marijuana, but you might on these compounds," he told the paper. "These things are dangerous, and marijuana isn't, really."

If only more people were aware of articles like this they would realize prohibition never works.. just look at the 1920s when they started making low quality "bath-tub gin" and other shit... it kinda contrast a lil with the whole fake marijuana shit taking over cause the real marijuana is illegal, which is much much much safer and milder then these synthetic cannibinoids that are being placed in these "legal potpourri bags"
 
While I disagree about the part prohibiting synthetic cannibinoid agonists, I am glad to see another respected member of the scientific community stand up for the legalization of the cannabis family of flora.

Indeed prohibition never works. Humans will always seek their drug area of choice that gives them the most contentment and happiness -- for some that is agonizing CB receptors, others opioid receptors, others 5HT2A, etc and some "all of the above." ;)

Even in countries that put drug "offenders" to death people still seek, obtain, and use drugs.
 
Next person to call it fake or synthetic marijuana is getting their testicles removed by my hands at a force once thought impossible. It's not fucking "fake", it's got nothing to do with "marijuana" except that some effects are similar (should we say beer is synthetic wine now?) and a few dipfucks are marketing it as such. It's a cannabinoid, it's synthesized and doesn't occur naturally, that means fuck-all, if you call it fake weed or anything even remotely similar to that you should be put back into 6th grade and be required to retake all science classes. My friend's 11-year-old knows it's not "fake weed".

yes i've heard him say this before in another interview

but people don't tend to listen ? there's alot of preconceived, foolish ideas about cannabis that many many people hold........ i guess things are beginning to change but the changes happen so slowly it's skull-numbingly demotivating and i feel pessimistic and let down by the whole system
 
that's bullshit I love my synthetics and all their varieties. I quit smoking cannabis as this synthetic stuff is so cheap and effective. Although no question about it, cannabis is safer but blah leave them all alone.
