Urinating on stimulants (why so hard)

So I figure when I actually ask my question this will be ADD material, plus I want ADD people to respond, because its a legitimate question about anatomy, pharmacology and biology!

So Ive noticed OVERALL that stimulants make me want to urinate more frequently, this is old news.

However, the more trippy, or more empathogenic the chemical is, I still have to pee just as bad, but when I step up....nothing.

Its EXTREMELY hard to urinate while on empathogenic stims (4mmc is a perfect example, but even MDMA does it to me). It comes in bursts, I have to push hard...it leaks and drips when it shouldnt...it overall sucks. Its like public piss syndrome but time 100, and the bursts are the worst part.

When Im sober or on downers, taking a piss is as easy as logging onto the interwebs.

Heres my question:
Why causes this inability to urinate? Is it anxiety related? Or just has to do with the 5HT (and possibly other like NoA) systems? Or maybe... stims enhance a prostate problem I have?

Are there any ways to help combat this? Ive found benzos help somewhat but not completely.

Any insight is greatly appreciated, thanks!
 
It's activation of the adrenergic receptor that causes tightening of the urinary sphincter. Trying to relax and breathe deep will help, but it's otherwise completely normal to have that happen. Especially on stimulants or phenethylamines.

I'm guessing muscle relaxants. Diazepam would be the best benzo. But (just guessing) opiates or barbiturates would work better. Even in small doses they should help a bit.
When im on coke and freak out about not being able to go to the bathroom i usually take any muscle relaxant.
something that seems to work wonders, and i really mean wonders, is heating up your genitals. Just soak em in warm water for awhile (wet towel or bidet) and it'll all not only go back to its regular size, but it'll also work! ;)

In theory vasodilators like alkylnitrites could help (most stimulants are vasoconstrictive and this also contributes to the issue). But I cannot recommend using drugs that increases heart rate when youre already on stimulants :)

Anecdotally however I have seen many people mixing stimulants and alkyl nitrites without any problems.
 
Stimulants generally stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, relaxing your bladder so it can hold more urine. At the same time, excessive sympathetic activation automatically inhibits the parasympathetic nervous system, which is controlling contraction of the muscles in your bladder. So basically your bladder can hold more urine, while it is harder to pee since the nervous system that controls peeing is inhibited by the stimulants.

Amphetamin and most other stimulants will also increase the release of vasopressin, leading to roughly the same effects as the aldosterone release mentioned previously. But this is not directly related to the fact you can't empty you bladder although you feel the urge to pee.
 
when i had some mdai a few weeks back i couldnt piss and it was the worst pain ive ever experienced. the piss built up and built up and it felt like my bladder was going to burst. it was painful to piss for up to a week afterwards too. never again.
 
IME amphet doesnt make it HARD to pee, yeah it takes a second but its not...what you'd call hard? like how MDMA is or something lol
amphet, could just be me, but amphet always makes me piss a ton while high. a ton more than if i were sober...
 
damn! thanks for all the replies and info guys im glad i posted this. Im a little more at ease now knowing I dont have prostate cancer or anything haha. Would make sense that its worst on 4mmc for me at least, because of its adrenic potential.
 
I've always experienced just the opposite on stims--constant, urgent urination. It happens with propylhexedrine, methylone, mephedrone, caffeine, MDMA and ephedrine, so I'm pretty sure it's a stimulant thing. No difficulty getting the flow started though.
 
I seem to find that I dont need to piss for ages when on stimulants, mainly methamphetamine. But when I finially do, the urine is dark yellow and has a very strong odour, very strong.. anyone else the same?

My educated semi-guess would be the same. ;)
Extra fluid retention and increased sweating, both direct effects of amphetamine intake.
These processes both contribute to urine retention and thus increased colour and odour of urine.

Besides the possibility of the urine being concentrated, there are cuts that will do this to the piss.

Despite its having been overlooked by the rest of the thread, I hasten to point out the well-established pathogenic role of the alpha-1A adrenergic receptors in disorders of the prostate and urinary tract. OP, do you mean to say that you are aware of bearing a disease of the prostate and are curious as to whether the stimulants could be aggravators? Or are you inquiring as to whether or not you might have such an ailment in the first place?

Either way, I suggest that you reach for the terazosin (or an equivalent alpha blocker) and throttle the postsynaptic binding of the released sympathogens to your bladder's poor, defenseless smooth muscles, which are likely being violently bombarded by the cascading flood of noradrenaline effected by the psychostimulants.
 
Does anyone else have water retention from amphetamines? It seems like I am the only one! I am on dexedrine for 1 1/2 yeras now-at first i lost a lot of weight but now it's all back and more!!! all fluild! I have high aldosterone now and i think it is from the dexedrine causing dehydration and then fluid retention....anyone else? ideas? my cortisol was high last year as well...
