Hello Bluelight. A friend of mine steeped about a bowl's worth of cannabis in a tea containing some milk for fifteen minutes.

He left the tea on the floor, and his very small dog lapped a good portion of it up before spilling it.

Is it urgent that we take him to the vet?

i wouldnt say so.
make sure ypuve got lots of water available, i would say stay with him as much as you can for the next 24 hours because of course he wont be used to the psychological effects of the mj.

Thanks, Adam. It's been around half an hour since ingestion and he seems to have as much energy as usual besides being mildly shaken at our failed attempt to make him throw up with an animal emetic. We'll keep a close watch. He has water in his bowl, and plenty of love and care.

I've seen a tiny, geriatric pomeranian eat close to a vick before. She just zoned out for the rest of the day and acted off the next. She was back to normal after a couple days, though. At worst she just wasn't responsive... just kind of laid on the ground staring off into space for a long fucking time.

I'm sure your dog'll be fine.

EDIT: Correction, I didn't see the dog eat the weed, we just saw it next to where it was sitting on the coffee table with little nugglets all around its mouth and a little shake scattered on the carpet. I didn't want anyone thinking this was done intentionally or anything.

That's good to hear there were no complications. I guess I'm unreasonably anxious because in the past another friend's dog found where we were hiding the brownies and managed to knock them off of the shelf. Needless to say, he couldn't walk and got his stomach pumped.

I'm worried because this dog is particularly small, but since the amount of weed was reasonably small and diluted, I feeling that he'll be okay.

Alright, I can relax now! It's been a long day!

if you were to take the dog to a vet then of course they would probably insist on stomach pumping, whatever makes them the most amount of cash. dont be worried, as long as you stay with him (perhaps take him to bed with you?) and make sure hes got water he'll be fine.

Yeah, sounds about similar to the Pomeranian. She was so shaky on her feet it was ridiculous. The stomach pump is pretty common for dogs that do this kind of thing and go to the vet, though. It's a shitty thing to go through, but, from the vet's perspective, it's always better safe than sorry.

I think it's more of a "if-this-drug-user-is-irresponsible-enough-to-let-their-dog-eat-illicit-drugs-and-then-tell-us-about-it,-who-knows-what-the-hell-is-really-in-that-dog's-stomach" kind of thing. Not saying I agree with it, but veterinarians tend to err on the side of caution in my experience. (That's not a cheap shot at you, zaggy. I'm just trying to think what might go through the vet's head in this kind of situation.)

watch the doggy closely and give him love so he has a good trip and of course if he exhibits signs of duress that seem worrisome take him to the vet

from experience, vets are in it for the money.

I agree with being on the safe side in extreme cases. In the extreme case of my other friend's dog years ago, the dog had eaten five brownies that were the equivalent of an eighth to the face each (one got me stoned for 8 hours 8o)— I think its safe to say that a health risk is posed at that point. As a drug user and pet owner, it's your responsibility to take the animal to the vet at that point

I would like to mention, that this was not my doing, I am inquiring here because my friend does not have an account.

yeah but your dog had the equivalent of a bowl, big difference. of course he may shown signs of not being quite right, warm nose but thats to be expected. consider a vet as a last resort (for example if hes constantly vomitting, problems with breathing etc)

^ hmmmm... what i sense here is a deep seated resentment towards vets....
that is tragic but sometimes shit goes wrong it happens with humans and medical doctors also

na not really just my experiences. had pets all my life. i dont resent vets but i do know (ime) that they take advantage in some circumstances. of course they can save your pets lives and do good work but you can be sure theyre taking a fat wedge in the process.

better safe than sorry mentality plays into their hands, but of course some people just want to know theyve doe everything they can.

All 3 of my cats love the taste of bud so much that they try to eat it straight out of the chop bowl. Plus they all get 2nd hand stoned all the time and generally explode with energy.

I don't think your dog will have any problems, just think back on the first time you got stoned, it's probably feeling like that.
