I tried to hurry by

past the spectators stares

hoping the twilight might hide

with fading dimming glares


I was sure I'd sneak past

without any reflection

the store front panes

behind roof top's detection


I'd give my day to lovers

so that they may have their kiss

I'd give way to gazers

in hopes my face they'd miss


Upon hopes of twinkling sighs

I rest my radiant crown

to soothe the burning sky

and go gently underground
