Woke up early today, trying to find
A reason why I can't stop myself
From chasing the dream, which
For a split second in time was
Right within my reach, but quickly
Swept away. Left me clinging to nothing
But another memory of when the sun
Was shining bright and the sound of truth
Reverberated through my ears.
Now replaced by lies and contradictions of
Reality and morality. So I stand back far
Away and watch as you slip into another of
The blackest voids, under the tree of Rationalization that persistence pays and When you try, you always get what you want.
But when you try to attain something not Meant for anyone to gain, just add another Lost soul to the leaves of pain
Stagnant on the ground, aged and weathered
By the Seasons of time and covered by life's
Mistakes and regrets that always surface when
You can least afford to lose one more time.
Hold tight to your dreams, because I let go Of mine, with each day that passes memories
Are born and so are lies, that bind you to Convictions and promises meant well but not
Meant to keep you from living life
Without holding back and bound to being what
You thought you'd never be, and who can never
Become. On a dead end road that only goes One way, never turning back to learn what dreams cost you in the past, and why you Should forget tommorw and live for today
Because dreams pass with ease, but reality Never goes away.
