Hi,
So I decided to try DXM today after reading as much as I could about it on erowid. I drank about 80% of a bottle of "TopCare Cough Relief" brand cough syrup, which lists only DXM HBr as the active ingredient. So, that means I took roughly 300 mg (100 ml at 3mg/ml) of DXM, which should have theoretically put me in the second plateau (I weigh ~150 lbs). This was at 1:45 pm today, it's now about 6 hours later and most of the effects are pretty much gone.
I started coming up around an hour after ingestion, with fairly mild effects, similar to having taken 3 or 4 shots of alcohol. About 30-45 minutes later though, I started feeling very warm (feverish). This escalated to my face/neck/upper shoulder area becoming quite red, and I felt like I had a mid to high-grade fever, which was quite unpleasant.
There was no itching at all, just heat and redness, so it doesn't seem like I experienced the dreaded 'robo itch'. After 45 minutes or so the fever subsided a bit although I still feel warmer than usual. I only felt mild trip effects, similar to being mildly drunk.
Any opinions on this? If I try it again, should I up the dosage? Try a different brand?
Thanks.
