Hey,

Does anyone have stories to share about undercover cops at raves or if anyone encountered a situation in the past? I am really paranoid at raves and I really want to get over that obsessive paranoia because I enjoy the atmosphere so much.

I am trying to explore the worst case situations and how in reality is played out. Because my imagination really think of the worst things ever.

I think the only time you should be worried is buying pills from someone random. Other than that, 90% of the people there are rolling, they're not going to bust people for rolling.

What I would like to know though is what if someone comes up to you and says "I'll trade you a Pokeball for that kandi!" What can you do in this situation? My buddy got offered a pill for his badass 3D cuff. I know you'd get busted for pulling out cash trying to buy a pill from someone, but what if someone offered to give you a pill? Can you say 'Sure, let me see the pill' and be in the clear if it WAS an undercover?

Dude, that sounds pretty shady. I am pretty sure you can fight it in court but they will still win......of course you would get arrested, now whether they indict you....that can go either way.

That thing that I am afraid of the most is if you are rolling and you look fucked up, they can get you for public intoxication and then search you. Did that happen to anyone?

Also, if you are with the someone that have drugs with them, do both of you get arrested???

My mind goes crazy worrying and being scared shitless of cops :(

I think trading anything for drugs is illegal, but I may be wrong. Also, wtf? Offering a pill for kandi? Kandi is something that you're supposed to trade with other people you have made special connections with to show the bond between you or something along those lines.

I've seen a dealer get busted at a rave but I think it was just by the security at the venue so I'm not sure if he just got kicked out or actually got arrested. As long as you're not dealing, you have nothing to worry about, no matter how fucked up you may be or look; if someone asks you for pills, just say you don't know.

Typically, they're not gonna give you a Public Intox at a rave UNLESS you are being a belligerant moron dickhead and can't lock it up.

Basically, as long as you're not acting like you can't keep yourself safe, then you'll be fine.

Or do as I do: bury yourself into the middle of the dance crowd where evvverybody is rolling face! This serves dual purpose: you blend in, and I would assume UC's would be a little hesitant to meander into a dense crowd like that.

If you are with someone with drugs... I'm pretty sure just the person in possession would get in trouble, but don't quote me on that. Cops can do some fucked up stuff sometimes.

All in all though, as long as you aren't selling pills or buying off random folk, you should be fine! I ALWAYS look completely mashed at every event I'm at, but I know how and when to compose myself and be coherent even when I'm flyin' high, and I've never had ANY issues with police and have actually made friends with some security guards.

Here's one story from a club that happened to me...

I was rolling hard and just came out of the bathrooms after doing a bump of k. I walked up to the sink to wash my hands and there was a girl sitting on the sink basin wiping sweat off her forehead and she started chatting with me. After a few, she asked what I took...this was back in nyc club days when cops were just starting to crack down on things...I said, "Nothing."

We chatted a little more. She was kinda coming on to me, which is why I continued chatting. Then, she said again, "You're really not on anything?" Now the k was hittin me and I was rollin hard and feelin really good, so I was just casually like,"Oh, I'm on all kinds of shit." She got a real serious look on her face and said, "Really?"

I looked up in the mirror and saw a bunch of bouncers who must've been watching start to head towards me as the girl made a signal with her eyes to them. My heart jumped out of my chest and I turned and beelined it through the crowd. The club was huge, so I was able to disappear in the crowd...they never found me.

This was over 10 years ago, but my rule even to this day is not to even talk to anyone at raves or in clubs about drugs if I don't know them. Not knowing them means I didn't know them before I went in. You need to be very careful of undercovers trying to strike up conversations very casually...they know people are open and vulnerable while rolling.

That's why I say be careful of everyone you didn't know before you went in because one of your friends that's fucked up might have just met someone they think is cool and introduce you to them and you assume they're cool cause your friend made the intro.

Don't buy inside raves and clubs and don't tell anyone you're high. Too dangerous.

While anything is possible.. In my experience at raves in my area..

There usually aren't any undercovers. I'm sure they swing through sometimes, but I haven't seen any yet, and I've been going to raves for about 6 years now. The places I goto usually hire their own security to keep the police out.

And the security that I see there is much more interested in people selling than people trying to buy. Yeah, obviously, if you're caught doing anything illegal red-handed, you're gonna get kicked out. But that's usually the end of it. If you're caught selling with a back-pack full of shit, the cops might get called. But from what I've seen people usually just get kicked out if caught.

And I've never seen anyone get busted for buying.

Like I said though, that's just my experience.. I still get paranoid as hell myself, and always try to be careful as shit. Just because I haven't seen it yet, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I know you're already paranoid, but that's a good thing as it keeps you on your toes. Here's another story just so you understand how careful you need to be...

This happened recently in a club. Two people I know, one a dealer and one a friend of the dealer, were in the club and the girl was being hit on by a really attractive dude. She was hangin with him most of the night and they were making out and the dude asked for pills and she said she knew where to get them.

She told her friend, the dealer, she knew the guy and he was cool. The guy handed her money for 2 pills and she gave it to the dealer and the dealer gave her the pills to give to the guy. A few minutes later, uniformed cops raided the club and went straight for the dealer. The guy who the girl was making out with was an undercover, and he had paid with marked bills.

This whole thing could've been avoided if she had been more clear headed and told her friend who sold the pills that she didn't know the undercover.

Yea they usually go for dealers, a lot of security even let you off if they find drugs on you. I was about to roll a J in one of these raves and was out side with some new people i had met. We were all rolling balls and didn't give a shit so sat in a pretty open place when i was about to roll it. The security rolled up behind us flash lights in our face and obviously i lied but they ended up searching. They found pills and weed on my 2 new friends and nothing on me, they immediately just walked away. If they had found a baggy of pills on one of them i'm pretty sure the security would have taken them to the cops. As others have said, almost everyone is rolling, they are really just going for dealers.

Damn..... Fucking whoring cops......

Yea, that was over a decade ago, and it's got me paranoid still...

I was at a rave last year and some kid we were chillin with told me he had taken a bunch of mollys, was obviously rolling and asked if I took anything. I was rolling my nuts off but still said no out of paranoia. I realized later how ridiculous this was cause the guy was obviously rolling and was too young to be a cop anyway. But whatever, I still say better safe than sorry.

I feel you man, im paranoid too haha, its what keeps me alive and sometimes out of jail :), still those two stories are disgustingly horrible, makes me sick to my stomach that I could fall in love with an undercover possibly while rolling at a club and then 2 weeks later end up getting my dealer busted and my ass kicked to the curb then to jail or something along those lines could happen. That's some crooked shit, even though its by the book, that definitely falls under the "crooked" category...

There's nothing to fear if you get what you need before the party. Undercovers are few and far between and are mostly looking for dealers -- not buyers. The only way for the drug war to "succeed" is to stop the source of the drugs -- not their buyers (although demand will always influence the production of drugs which is what makes the drug war hopeless to begin with). If you have your drugs ahead of time you don't have to deal with any dealers you think are sketchy and you have absolutely nothing to fear!! I'm fairly certain georgewc's experience is extremely rare.

I barely started raving about 4 months ago so I'm still newish to raving.. But before I went to my first rave my friends had a long talk with me. They told me if anyone asks me if I'm rolling, thizzing, popping pills, etc.... to always say NO. Even if I am rolling balls, not that I have any, or look extremely fuckd up. Just do what I do, when they ask me if I'm rolling or know anyone selling pills I just look at them all confused and ask them what they are talking about. They just end up walking away, saying never mind, or ask me if I'm serious.

I have seen security take some people.... to who knows where..... because they got caught selling them, someone snitched on them (undercover cop) OR they were extremely out of it. By out of it I mean, looking like you are lost and can't get out of it. But for that I THINK you have to be on other things.

Anyway, as long as you are not selling drugs, just enjoy your time there and have fun... I know I do ^_^

That's so sad =( When someone asks if I'm rolling at a party I always said "yup, and so are you!" because they were =P What a sketchy ass pile of shit the rave scene is anymore =\

i only have to worry about undercovers at massives like EDC, ETD, moster massive, ect.... smaller raver where i live never have undercovers. although once i was at a massive and was rolling super hard and talked to an undercover. i knew they would be there and i even warned my friends of the things they say/do to trick you.
i was walking up some stairs and some random guy was like 'hey! are you rolling?' i said yes because i get asked this alllll the time and thought nothing of it and was rolling too hard to realize that this was just some random guy and that he wasnt just a friendly guy.... he was even wearing normal clothes and didnt fit in at all :X:!
he had some BS story of his girlfriend leaving with all their pills and he just needed one more and i told him 'i dont have any more, im sorry! if i had an extra one i would give it to you free! <3<3<3 ......... :( as soon as we walked away my friend told me he was an undercover and it all made sence... i learned my lesson.

didnt proof read, probably sounds like a third grader wrote it. sorry.

very simple steps can be taken to avoid issues-

bring your own shit, leave on site procurement for the idiots. don't make a fool of yourself. don't tell people you are fucked up, or what you are fucked up on. don't leave visably intoxicated.

Some police forces actively target users also, its an easy bust and can scare the person never to do it again. Yes dealers would be great but some can / and do pin the 'dealer' badge on the wrong person who was (at the time) only trying to help out.

In some areas if a person asks you where you can buy pills the simple act of replying with a description or pointing somebody out is enough to get you lifted.

The simple way of not being busted is dont carry any pills on you and if anyone asks you if you know where to buy pills you say no.

Dont forget that buying pills for your friends is also classed as dealing, if one of them gets stopped and says they bought the pill of a friend they are implacating you straight away.

At the massive I attended this year me and my boyfriend went dressed very pro weed/drugie. We got a lot of attention! Especially from this one undercover that followed us the WHOLE TIME. My boyfriend noticed from the beginning, I noticed at the end. he saw us smoking, eating pills, sharing our blunts. AS LONG AS NO MONEY IS SEEN BUYING SELLING. ..they cant do shit! They know every one is getting fucked up eating pills smoking taking lsd , but there just out for ppl trying to profit from the event.

Im pretty sure in the UK you cant get busted for buying pills as the drug has to be in or connected to your possesion. Im pretty sure cops selling pills is entrapment if they are the ones initiating the sale. With the swap gig sounds shady but would probably hold up in court if they really didnt like you.
