Uncharacteristic opiate response?

I have been using oxycodone at low doses for about 2 or 3 months, starting with 5mg and working my way up
I didn't use every day, maybe once every week or so
Anyway, one night I took 5mg more than my usual dose because 20 was starting to have less of an effect on me. I felt fine for the first hour, and then I fell asleep. When I woke up five hours later, I was panicked and sweaty, and couldn't breathe very well. It was really hard to move, and I had some trouble getting out of bed. When I finally did, I could barely stand so I sat on my floor for half an hour trying to get a good, deep breath. After a while, it started winding down and I felt a little better, but I was weak and clammy for the rest of the day. The next week, I went back down to 20mg again but it was too weak for me so I had another pill. Everything was fine and I didn't have any negative aftereffects the next day, except for a slight drowsiness that persisted throughout the day.

Is this a common thing to happen out of the blue with oxy? I can't imagine I overdosed, because it was such a small amount, a dose usually lasts for about 4 hours for me, and I only bumped up my dose by a 5mg increment. This is the first time I've had this problem with any opiate, and prior to my oxycodone use I was taking hydrocodone daily for two months

It is common for a dosage increase to produce a different pattern of effects, i wouldn't worry too much about it. If you didn't like it then don't take them anymore but I don't think there is much reason for concern either way.

Maybe that special day came where that switch flicked in your brain and said, "ok, this time we're gonna send a warning" type of mah-jiggy. There's a lot more to taking drugs than feeling good.
