Unable to communicate all of a sudden?

So I had a brief history of MDMA and Alcohol abuse. Been clean for about a year now, though I still drink on weekends socially.

For some reason, in the last few months, my anxiety and depression have been getting massively worse. I'm not sure whether to classify this as brain fog or something else, but I am now unable to speak to people on the phone or in person. I was having a phone call today for work, and I literally went blank, to the point where the other party had to ask if I was ok. I know what I want to say, but have trouble getting it out. I never stuttered or blanked out like this before.

Any ideas? I'm not really taking anything right now with the exception of piracetam/alcar/b-complex, and melatonin at night for sleep.

This is really debilitating for me, and it's a rather new occurrence. I never had big anxiety issues in the past, or up until a few months ago. The inability to communicate is really terrible, and I need a cure asap. Any help is appreciated.

Well to give you a cure, we first have to know why this is happening. I know you said you haven't been using anything besides alcohol on the weekends but you're not smoking weed or taking any opiates or anything? Did something happen in your life that you can attribute this to in any way? Did you just wake up one day and feel completely different or has it been a gradual decline of thought process? Are you normally a social butterfly? I think we need a bit more information here. If this is some sort of psycholigical problem that you absolutely cannot attribute to drug use, then you should think about seeing someone about it.

I know I have quite a few problems getting my words out properly. It seems like I can never get a thought out exactly how I want to, or how it sounds in my head. I jumble my words and it can be quite annoying and to the point where I really have to concentrate to hold a conversation. But I was never a big talker anyway, and I can pretty much attribute this to my drug use (mostly my weed use).

No not much of a weed user. I'd say its been around 3 months since the last time I smoked.

MDMA usage - (quite a bit last year, but it was spaced out at least monthly).
Alcohol - (went through a few severe withdrawals, had to take benzos for withdrawals a few times).

I stopped it all for the most part around Jul 10. I've been clear off MDMA, and alcohol pretty much restricted to a a limited amount beers or wine on the weekends or with dinner. No opiate usage, and not much benzo use.

At the same time, I also started a nootropic/supplement regimen for the sake of good health:
Piracetam (1.6g), Fish Oil, B100, ALCAR, and Picamilon (Melatonin at night for sleep).

I had a steady job up until the earlier this year, when my contract ended. My job and field in general involved lots of meetings, talking, presentations. Definitely a lot of face to face contact and coordination required. At the time when I left my previous job, I didn't have any problems functionally.

For the last month or so though, almost all of a sudden, my anxiety seems to have gone up a ton. I also have a huge sense of brain fog. It's become difficult for me to create sentences and think on the fly. I recently took a job consulting, and I'm basically unable to perform any of my necessary job duties because I have trouble speaking to people and making presentations, things I previously had no issue doing at all.

Can this be alcohol related damage manifesting itself? Social Anxiety disorder? I just find it strange that this kind of thing would happen all of a sudden, when it was never a concern in my life previously?.

I do have a doc appt set up for tomorrow, going to get some bloodwork done as well, but any anecdotes or advice from the community is always helpful.

Good that you have a doctor's appointment set up because the first thing I would do is get totally physically checked out.

I feel it is most likely a combination of depression and acute anxiety too.. it sounds like a pretty common symptom.

It's definitely worth double checking it isn't alcohol-related damage, but if not, I think it is very likely to have a psychological basis. Let us know what the doctor said :) are you getting any treatment for your depression/anxiety? <3
