UK: New drugs czar wants ecstasy downgraded

this is a great post. mdma is a lifestyle drug in my opinion, very little chance of dependence if you are semi-intelligent . who the fuck would pop pills habitually? ewwwwwww
Dependence, no, you're right.
But that doesn't change the fact that some people will still munch pills daily.
Rose tinted specs and all that, but not everybody (including fuck loads of BLers) is sensible enough to use sensibly.

I got about 5 days into the X binge, and after that never did anything remotely like that again. But, I know a few people who *have* gone on week- or month-long binges. *shrugs* I'm still completely in favor of drugs being legal, though. It's your life, not mine. Hopefully something good comes out of this, even if it isn't an immediate lowering of this or any drug's classification. The fact that it's even made news is a good sign that slowly the political climate of the world is changing to a more liberal *coughbettercough* setting. I highly doubt any sort of real drug reforms will be coming anytime particularly soon, over there or here in the US, but any little bit helps the whole movement. Things like this, and US presidential candidate Barack Obama's being in favor of legalizing marijuana for medical use, are nothing but good in my opinion.

But if McCain wins in US in Nov, then no drug will ever be legal again and the current draconian punishments will only be increased. McCain even wants to ban all of the currently available "dietary supplements" and roll them into the schedules. Even Schedule II compounds will likely become impossible to obtain and virtually impossible for doctors to prescribe. Obama really is the last, best hope for the US--he is logical, cool headed and will even publicly admit that he has used (gasp) druuuugggs in the past. Of course, it is likely that the vast majority of politicians have tried or currently use drugs, but they are hypocritical pricks about it.

Geeezee ~ and here I thought we were the UK's Slut???
Will the real head pimp please stand up!!!!!!!

Upgrades - Downgrades ----- it is all the same old stupid shit.
When are these dumbass politicians gonna figure it out ---
if these substances were legal ~ they would actually have more control!!!!
Users would not be criminals - they would be consumers & patients.
Quality would be better and safer
Harm from side effects and/abuse would diminish.
And the money would be legal
with the taxes going to the government!!!!

It's a WIN ~ WIN solution!!!!!

^svaingJenniB has hit the nail on the head but...

Drug classifications are nothing to do with harm or realities, they are about politics and no politician in their right mind would advocate a drug tolerant approach - not in the UK anyway. Smackheads rob, innocent XTC ravers die, pot users are all schizo, speed tweakers can do anything crazy anytime and benzo abusers fall asleep driving trains full of people, while all the time alcohol is our traditional way to let our hair down - nonsense!

^ Not just the UK. The UK's pimp/bitch too...

^I completely agree with this.

^^ so do i, and obama has come out pubically stating he's in favor of decriminilizing marijuana and legalizing medical marijuana.

4MTA aka flatliners are they mad! i hear that stuff is lethal plus no one even uses it, whats the point even mentioning it. MDMA to a class B is definitely the wisest thing to do though considering they upgraded cannabis to a B can you really see MDMA and Cannabis in the same category - i think not.
