UK Marquis/Mandelin Reagent Test Kits

You know, you are right, I really should have a deal for both. I will update the site when I get home. I haven't bothered to implement a shopping cart yet because we are only selling 2 reagents at the time being, obviously more will come soon :)

I did just get an order for both yeah, so if it was you then you got both.

Yep that will be me ?

To make marquis, mix 95 parts conc sulphuric acid with 5% formaldehyde, both available on ebay

Yeah, forget about all the safety, the dangerous fumes released, the fact that one of those is carcinogenic and the other is strong enough to dissolve through your skin, its just mixing two chemicals right? The formulas for making all the reagents are publicly available.

I'm all for people making their own, but its not safe for everyone to just go and make their own by buying the chemicals off ebay when they don't take the right precautions or safety procedures for handling them, you'll get people hurt just by saying its just mixing Sulfuric and Formaldehyde.

The clue is in the word ACID!

I'm surprised it's legal to ship Sulphuric Acid in the mail!

Its not legal to ship dangerous chemicals in the UK unless carried by an ADR courier (with exception of limited quantities and few other rules).

Because things like this happen when you don't package it properly or it isn't handled like a dangerous chemical: http://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2...stal-staff-suffer-burns-from-leaking-package/

Funnily enough, that company was selling through ebay where I'm sure many sellers are breaking the laws daily by shipping those items via Royal Mail. I think that company got off pretty light imo, if it was concentrated Sulphuric they shipped in that quantity they'd likely never see another day of business.

Isn't drain cleaner used in meth manufacture?

Incidentally the other items listed such as matches, nail polish remover and batteries are as well. Not sure if that's just a coincidence or not.

Edit.....the perfumes and aftershaves one is something that I bet catches a lot of people out as I imagine they're sent through the post quite regularly as presents around Xmas time and the like.

Can't remember the exact estimate but its something like 30%+ of items are sent illegally in the UK, typically because people are unaware, aftershaves at Christmas for example as you said.

The concern is that some of these items board a plane, and you don't want flammable liquids or corrosive chemicals on board without knowing. Batteries etc can explode and set fire to things that's why they are typically a no-no same with matches and etc.

They are getting even stricter with these regulations as well, come 2016 Marquis reagents will no longer be able to be sold to the general public in the EU.

Arrived the other day thank you!
Was a little dissappointed with the quantity though I must admit ?

The quantity is probably deceiving, 5ml is up to 100 drops and 1-3 drops are enough for a test, hence I figured it was an appropriate amount unless you are going through 50+ tests of substances in 6 months.

5ml is also the standard amount I found people to be selling as well. But if I hear more comments about the quantity I will surely up it on the next batches, thanks for letting me know your concerns.

It's no worries mate, with all business start ups all feedback is good to know :)

Maybe use smaller bottles? I think that's why the amount looks small.
And definitely put an option on your site for buying both at once maybe with a small discount as your saving on postage by shopping both products to one address so offer that small saving back to the consumer.

You missed out the bit about the protective clothing, the fume cabinet and the other assorted safety equipment and the insurance (including public liability). This is concentrated sulphuric acid we're talking about here, not the one-mole stuff found dotted around school chemistry labs or even the four-and-a-bit-mole stuff found in vehicle batteries. That shit reacts exothermically with anything containing moisture -- even getting hot enough to set it on fire. If a small quantity of water gets into a larger quantity of conc H2SO4, the resulting reaction can throw drops of concentrated acid all over the place. Formaldehyde is not only highly toxic (it used to be used, in dilute solution, in chemical toilets; it worked by killing all the germs in the waste) but inflammable. Now think ..... Do you really want to go adding something inflammable to something that can ignite organic matter and that will spit drops everywhere? Even outdoors, in old clothes?

The only reason these testing kits are even deemed safe at all is because the total quantity of dangerous stuff in them is small enough to limit the damage you can do with one kit. And the last thing we need, from a HR perspective, is anyone drawing attention to the reagents being inherently dangerous; the authorities already aren't mad keen the idea of people being able to test their drugs to see what's in them. They'd literally rather you die than get high.

I was looking on the SafeTest4 website yesterday and they have expanded their range. The also have added RobaTest (Robadope - modified Simon's reagent) results tables and are indicated they will be releasing the RobaTest very soon.

They have also changed their kit lineup. They have 4 different kits from 4 reagent kits to 6 at very low prices as they want to promote harm reduction. I purchased one of their kits (5 reagent - Marquis, Mecke, Mandelin, Gallic Acid & Liebermann) a month ago and it is very good and has already solved what was in some mystery powder.

I must say they do a top job and I have recommended them to a lot of people. They take so much care and use high grade bottles (have seen some low grade - very squeezable - dropper bottles used which leach into the strong reagent acids and degrade kits quickly). They even individually seal each reagent bottle and use some sort of sponge like material (apparently Postal requirements) plus it came in a robust cardboard mailing box which wa enclosed in a mailing bad. All very discrete and amazing value.

So robatest/robadope is available...from SafeTest4

Hope that helps

That's great BluelightJC, I assume you are part of SafeTest4, but it would be nice if you just made your own thread instead of spamming on others :p

This is a tricky one for us, it seems obvious you represent this company so why pretend you don't.

I've checked out the site and you do indeed sell a good range of testing kits, we wouldnt want to hinder that business.

However you can't just drop these thinly veiled adverts where ever you want, as a general rule we don't allow advertising in posts regardless of the product.

If you want to talk to us about advertising or a more appropriate way to make people aware of your site please PM me and I;ll try and help but further posts like this will be removed.

many thanks

You can now get them from www.reagent-tests.uk

They have the marquis and froehde reagents and should be adding the libermann and mandelin reagents next month.

They also have the ehrlich reagent for testing LSD blotters and tryptamines.
