UK - How Drugs Work: Cannabis

It obviously was.. 7 litres in 90 minutes could kill regardless of MDMA being consumed..

I've watched both of the episodes, I thought the 2nd one on ecstasy was better. It's nice to watch a program which isn't just negative propaganda, and the mdma therapy part was really interesting. I hope they keep looking into the positives of using it in therapy, could help a lot of people out!
I wish they'd gone more into how although ecstasy can be fatal, 40 deaths a year really isn't that much out of an approx 500,000 people popping pills in comparison to the mortality rates of other drugs.

I'd like to know how they can be sure that the 40 deaths were actually due to MDMA if the scientist was claiming that only 20% of tablets tested actually contain MDMA.

I remember back in my day (early 1990s), there were, IIRC, about 15 deaths total, ever. At that time there were probably more people taking the stuff every week than now, though I may be wrong.

I suspect that the number of deaths as a proportion of people consuming it increased when the number of chemicals that have kinda-sort-of-but-not-as-good-as the same effect as MDMA increased. Some are quite nasty, like PMA.
