A MAN, who smoked cannabis from the age of nine, grew the Class B drug in his own home.

Jay Baker, 26, has been smoking the drug since he was a child.

Basildon Crown Court heard how officers’ went to his home in Malvern Road, Grays on December 7 last year to speak with him in connection with another offence.

When they got there police discovered Baker had a makeshift drugs factory in a bedroom.

Factory? It makes it sound like the factory of today, producing millions and millions of product. (exaggerated ofc.)

"fac·to·ry/ˈfakt(ə)rē/
Noun:
A building or buildings where goods are manufactured or assembled.
A person, group, or institution that produces a great quantity of something: "a factory of bad English"."

I guess it's a play on words then.
Did anyone else think of it like this?

^ It is propaganda, which, if you want to put it very very kindly, is "a play on words".
It is slant, designed to rouse the public's fear and anger.

police discovered Baker had a makeshift drugs factory in a bedroom.

Prosecuting, Mark Lakin told the court the room, which was partitioned off with plastic sheeting, contained 52 plants of the Class B drug and 25 seedlings.

It had an extraction system, to get rid of the drug’s tell-tale smell, and lights to help them grow.

The "factory" was a fan and some lights.

I was also fascinated by this bit of Kafkaesque dark humor:

Sentencing Baker on Tuesday, judge Recorder Mary Stacey said she accepted Baker had grown the drug for his personal use.

She said: “At the age of 26 you have relatively few previous convictions, I also accept that the cannabis cultivation was entirely for your own personal use and was not intended to profit anyone else.

“The person you have harmed the most in this enterprise is yourself.”

Amazing that she said that. He actually didn't harm himself. She /the law harmed him.

Ffs its things like this that is making my local bit of weed dearer lol.
But if he was a heavy heavy heavy smoker then he might have been growing them for himself,
