Type-1 Diabetes / Psychedelics

Hey guys, I used the search feature and found a very small amount of posts about this subject. I read that LSD is known to raise the blood sugar slightly, but that it's no harm if your diabetes is managed.

I was recently diagnosed (about 2 months ago) and had done acid 3 times before I was diagnosed. Now I want to explore acid again and possibly other psychedelics. I'm just looking for some advice from people who know diabetics who trip or diabetics themselves. I'll obviously be checking my blood sugar constantly to make sure, and I feel like everything is good to go, just looking for some last minute input.

Thanks guys!

ive noticed with most drugs that they have very little effect on blood sugar. its probably the equivilent of eating a cookie or something, dont take extra insulin for it(maybe an extra unit of lantus if your stressing). also take a couple of readings but dont stress over it, it'll make the experience worse. just chill and do what you'd normally do. but thats just me :P
have a nice trip:)

Thanks for the input! Which drugs have you tried or regularly use? even ones outside the psychedelic spectrum

weed alot, i used to take E alot aswell but not so much now. other than those and acid ive had ketamine, coke and speed but i didnt do any tests while on them, only in the morning to see if it was all sweet. ive had my diabetes under control though, watch out when you get to the end of the honeymoon stage. i wouldnt use anything if my sugars were going nuts %)

A friend of mine had diabetes and his trick was to always test himself before, during, and after the substances, he found most substances made little/no difference - but it's always good to test to be sure :)

Giving myself extra insulin seems somewhat dangerous, especially if I end up having some "spur of the moment mid-trip physical exercise". I've only been diagnosed for a good 2 months but I feel it might be better to run a bit high during a trip, instead of normal levels.. just in case? What do you think?

If it was dangerous I'm sure there would be something about it on the internet. I think it'd be more risky to give yourself extra insulin.

Just have something backup with you to ensure safety.

an extra unit of lantus really wouldnt hurt anybody unless you are already waking up with a BGL of less than 3.

16 years as a Type 1 diabetic, and what I've learned is that every diabetic is different, just like every trip is different. Overall, I have never noticed drugs to affect my blood sugar (though I haven't done LSD yet) - it's the effects of the drugs that cause problems.

Had a terrible low that almost ruined my first e experience because I was dancing too much. Since then I've kept a better eye on it. It helps to have one other person who knows what's going on and checks in on you every hour.
