any other rumpole fans out there?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumpole

they're currently running through them in semi-chronological order on ITV3 in the uk... rumpole represents an absolutely gripping, wistful, funny, whimsical and intensely personable glance into the looking-glass of british criminal justice. tis full of moralisms, poetry, and character: the antithesis of modern TV, and one of the reasons it's so damn compelling.

:)

My parents (both lawyers) used to watch this show religiously when I was a kid. I remember always getting pissed because they'd watch this and other 'boring' shows on ABC (oz government network) when I wanted to watch shows like 90210 :D

heh my folks loved it too - since moving to britain i realised just how much BBC stuff the ABC recycles (and quite rightly!)...

if you get the chance, check it out now :)

=D

You're an absolute dude seuss.

I have vivid recollections of my mum & I devotedly watching this on a Sunday night when I was a kid, & I seem to recall I found it all terribly exciting in a crusty kind of way.

RIP Leo McKern - the very definition of a plum-cheeked blusteringly rumbustious Englishman. They certainly don't make 'em like that anymore. :(

In fact you mentioning it has reminded me that I used to love crime-based dramas when I was a wee little boy. Inspector Morse was another British TV classic that I remember watching, sat cross-legged in front of the fire in my dressing gown, with a cup of hot chocolate, before I was sent to bed.
