TV: Deal or No Deal

It's pure chance. Although on an intellectual level I find it somewhat... un-stimulating, I end up watching it whenever I see that it's on. I can't explain why.

I know what you mean. Maybe that's why I like it. No trivia, or gay ass lifelines, just the simple formula of human greed. It neat beacuse it's unreal when you see someone say "no deal" to, say, 100,000 bucks. But at the same time, I think to myself "damn, I'd probably say no deal also.

Howie Mandell sucks, they should have gotten a different host.

Possibly the worst game show ever!! I can't begin to explain how much I loathe this game of pure probability. And the host with deserves a red hot fry pan stomped into his pretty little face.

Best game show of all time- Sale of the Century.

I've quite gotten into it, at first i hated it because of that presenter fucking Noel Edmonds but now i try and watch it when i can because i love seeing the fools say No Deal then walk away with 1p. Hahaha :D

funny^

but it is an amusing show since they actually let you in on the end... you dont just get to see them walk off with the money - no the fun part is that you get to see them walk away with the awful feeling that they just gave up half a million for the 175 thousand they made a deal for

i'm really peeved at the resurrection of howie mandell. i thought he was stuck under a rock or something.

i've only seen this show 2x, but it's pretty addictive. what other gameshow on earth can you play that requires absolutely zero skill or intelligence. alls you have to do is guess...how easy is that?

i've already told my husband, i wouldn't take the deal on anything. it's go for the gold or go home with the other option. either way i bring home money and if i have a 1:4 chance of bringing in the big bucks, i'm gonna do it. the guy the other night gave up like $50K and a hummer on one of the offers, and ended up taking the deal at the very very end for over $200K. the last 3 cases had 1 bad figure (which he was going to pick first), 2nd lowest figure, and then the case he picked before the show started ended up being the jackpot. had he continued like he really wanted, he'd have pocked the $750K.

it's kind of riveting in a way. :)

^ Glad to see you reconsidered your position here at bluelight ;)

I cannot stand this show. There's absolutely NO SKILL involved whatsoever. It's like closing your eyes and pulling a dollar amount out of a hat.

Do "games" get much lamer?

Even Wheel of Fortune involves a modicum of mental skill. Deal or No Deal, on the other hand, is at the bottom when it comes to using brain power in a gameshow. Still, the girls with the suitcases aren't very hard on the eyes.

I'd love to see something like this with drugs.

"Well the good news is you still have the kilo of heroin up on the board, but you only have the 1/4 and 1/8 of pot left on the left side of the board. He's offering you a half pound of blow and a Rolex, deal or no deal?"

Then guy pulls out a gun and steals the heroin, blow, and the Rolex.

I saw this for the first time last night, it's all just probability.

Speaking of Wheel of fortune, almost pissed myself once about 8 years ago when I saw it. The puzzle was almost solved, with one or two letters left, but it was obvious what the answer was. This is what the woman said when she decided to solve it, I kid you not:

"Tom Hanks is Morest Gump"

I mean really...

tehe :D

there was a Wheel of Fortune clip on a while back where the puzzle was something like...

A GRO-- OF --LL --SH-RS

the dude (much to the horror of Pat Sajak) tried to solve the puzzle as "a group of pill pushers." it was "a group of well wishers."

i kind of enjoy this once in a while. i think it's easy to sit at home and poke holes in an idea, and criticise others for the decisions they make - especially with the benefit of hindsight.

that said, i do agree that there's little skill involved and it's hugely hyped.

i don't think it pretends to be anything more than it is: trashy, mass-market, commercialised entertainment. on that level, i think it does a good job.

alasdair

Yeah it's no Sarte extolling the virtues of existentialism, but it does deliver what it promises.

Howie Mandell is probably, on a mathematical level, the most useless human being on Earth.

While I disagree with your opinion (assuming that is your actual opinion; I happen to think that he's quite clever and quick-witted, albeit fairly annoying) on the relative usefulness of Mr. Mandel as a human being, I found your post to be quite cleverly written, as well.

this show is actually based on a humor article titled "drugs of the future". this show contains two of those drugs, the primary one being Cash on hand...where the user is taken to a secluded location and shown a briefcase full of 80's style cash money and the money they pay for it is added to the next high. it is totally 80's and defines the current new republican economic era. the red "deal" button is another called "direct access" where a button is wired to the brain's pleasure centers like an orgasm button..

ecstasy lite was a feeling like you had been told you had a good credit rating.
the anticrack was the perfect antidote to a good hit of crack.
These drugs are all in the show, which defines money as a drug perfectly
