A friend of mine just tested an Orange Butterfly and after dropping the reagent on the powder turned a pinkish/reddish colour and the rest of the liquid stayed clear/light pink...
Can someone please help and tell me what this means???

just looking on dance safe and when tested pink means glycerol
glyercol occurs naturally in the body from the oxidation of body fat and may reduce body temperature during exercise which in turn could prolong endurance. it is popular with endurance atheletes. it helps to postpone muscle fatigue....
Can anyone verify this??

That's another name for Guafenesin (sp?) which is an expectorant found in many cough syrups which also contain DXM, and some of which contain Pseudoephedrine (eg. Benelyn DM-DE)
As a rule of thumb, anyone who actually would care to use DXM in a recreational sense should never use syrups with a "D" or "DE" as this usually contain the above two ingredients.

I would NEVER say a pill is safe.
Fact of the matter is the pill didn't even produce an "ecstasy like" result, and so I would highly suggest not taking the pill.
If you're in the US, dancesafe would probably love to get their hands on this one for testing.
If you're in the UK, we can arrange the same.

Very interesting- came across something that turned reddy0pink as well. More like a crimsony colour. So can anyone verify that this is glycerol? Or does anyone have any ideas as to what would turn this colour?
Thanking you in advance because i know someone will reply ;)
PLEASE...

um just to make sure, you are saying that it tested pink/red with a Marquis kit? ie EZ Test Classic, Dancesafe Marquis, E1? and how pink are we talking?
This is where our limited vocab falls down. Is the pink like the smiley face i've picked for this reply?
ALso could you describe the pill and tell us where you are from?

Sorry about that - it's a pinky-red, more like a crimsony colour (ie bright pink). It was tested using the EZ Test Classic - Marquis reagant . After dropping the reagant on the powder it fizzed, and it turned this crimson colour after about 1 and a half minutes.
It was a blue and white capsule that was tested- the powder was very fine and brilliant white.
I am in Sydney.
Sorry about the lack of detail before - hope this helps get some answers :) :) :)

"after dropping the reagent on the powder turned a pinkish/reddish colour "
Not to darkpurple/almost black within a few seconds indicates that this is not an Ecstasy like substance.
I am pretty sure, this will not go blue with Simons and I agree, it COULD be something like Guanefasin, judging by the reaction you describe.
I've seen a similar reaction on an Australian pill here.
