Turn that FROWN upside down jnr, or not. Why the upside down smile?

^ Seriously? Man. I hadn't thought about him for a while. Ah, Josh. There was a time when I think the Syd crew funded the Sunday Bank cocktail hour(s).

i am frowning also because i haven't doofed since Rainbow. Fucking pathetic...work has demanded too much of me. Also, im over winter.

SA in a pharmacy just tried to sell me a homeopathic remedy (i.e. placebo). She was insisting how great it was and I was thinking "I wonder if the pharmacist would agree with you" but I'm non confrontational / kind of a wimp.

When you say you're gyped out of something... does that reference gypsies? If so I need a new word that means that, I've been using it all my life :(

It does.

But gypsies are historically notorious for theft.

Next time someone uses the word thug,
should I correct them on that too?

/boggles.

I hate it when I find out things don't mean what I think they mean. Or I'm saying it wrong. Until this year I was saying "intergestion" instead of indigestion. Spelling it right, saying it wrong. You would think that this sort of thing would slow right down by age 28.

My foot hurts considerably when I place weight on it (any pressure on the front outside half of the foot, big toe is fine). I'm worried I might have a metatarsal stress fracture as I've recently dived into a rigorous exercise regime putting heaps of stress on my feet after a couple of months of doing next to nothing :( Then again I'm a huge hypocondriac...

Anyone have any experience with these?

You should go and see a doctor or physiotherapist, you may need an x-ray(s) and perhaps a cast or walking boot.

What type of pain is it? Does it hurt when you touch it, and where? Is there any swelling, and where? Did the pain come on gradually or all at once? Is your 2nd toe longer than your big toe?

If it is a metatarsal stress fracture you'll need to stay off it as much as you can for a month or so, and then very slowly & gradually return to exercise. Make sure you're actually exercising correctly with your foot in the right position, and that your exercise shoes are cushioning/aiding you properly. Some examples of things you might be doing to cause a metatarsal stress fracture:

Overpronation http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/general/pronate.htm
Oversupination http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/general/supinate.php

^ thanks for the reply vanth :) Yeh I'll grin and bear it and eat pain killers for a few days and if doesn't improve I'll probably se a dr.

No swelling or bruising which is a good sign. It's a little tender but not incredibly sore to touch. On the other hand if I put weight on the foot (other than the heel or big toe), or try to curl my toes either up or down, then it does hurt like crazy. Happened last night some time but I can't pinpoint when, was wearing shoes with zero cushioning/support too (vibrams).

Second toe is slightly shorter than my big toe. That foot is oversupinated due to me absolutely mangling my tibia in my teens skateboarding; it was operated on a few times but never healed straight.

Anyway I'll stop clogging this thread up with my medical problems :o

... so... how about that weather hey?

have a chat to bodge about it, she fractured her foot at some point

oh and don't stop on our account man

I had a sore foot for six months starting half way through last year. X-rays showed no fracture... I tried anti-inflammatory pills and they ended up giving me reflux (which I still have, ulcers are nasty things always take pharms with food if you are told so, I learnt the hard way)... It gradually got better, I could still exercise which was lucky. My foot would just start to really ache towards the end of the walk or work day.

Since then I really look after my feet and buy a new pair of sneakers every few months so they have the full cushioning they need :)

That reminds me I need to either get new shoes for work or a new inner sole. The ones I have in now are pathetic. I have to wear two pairs of sox to stop the grooves of the shoe sticking into my heal.

Not so bad in winter but now things are warming up.

Now things are warming up, you can don the double pluggers. I don't see the problem.

Yeah could well be metatarsal stress fracture. Make sure you go see a doctor if it doesn't go away in a few days. Go internet diagnosis! ;)
