Tuesday night 6:30 ABC - special on recreational drugs.

air: that last question is a real ethical can of worms. and i as i keep saying you should hear Paul Dillion speak of the record ;) Hell if (or maybe when) the government pays me that much to talk about this shite I can guarentee you'll see a "modificiation of public views". It's called bringing em down from within ;)

STATISTICS: Ecstasy tablets almost never contain pure MDMA.
Ecstasy tablets usually contain one or more of the following: Methylamphetamine ('speed'), ketamine ('special K'), heroin, dextromethorphan (cough suppressant), methylamphetamine ('ice'), caffeine, pseudophedrine, talcum powder, baking soda, lactose.
Didn't they forget OMO??..

A large proportion of "ecstacy" tablets don't contain just MDMA... this is true because ecstacy is a blanket term for anything illegal in a dodgy looking pill...
Almost all tablets containing "MDxx-related" chemicals don't contain just MDxx-related chemicals... they also contain binders, and fillers...
Almost all adulterated tablets which don't test purple/black with Marquis reagent don't contain much MDxx-related chemicals...
Almost all statistics can be interpreted any way you see fit...

Good to see the neuroprotective properties of cannabis got a mention Was that in relation to MDMA (the work by Dr Ian McGregor)? I was specifically listening for this and didn't hear it. I must have talked over it.
*slaps head*

MDMA-4-ALL, 63% of people know this...

If computer games affected us as children then we'd be flying through space in an experiemental ship blowing up aliens ships doing synchronised dancing across the screen

Babydoc, Dr McGregor mentioned antioxidant properties of THC, stating it was possibly neuropotective. It may have been in relation to their earlier work with MDMA, but I don't think he mentioned it.

phase_dancer: ah, in the section on cannabis - actually I did hear that. I didn't think he would mention that it appeared to reduce harmful effects of mdma in rats (as described here) because that would be a wee bit controversial.

He actually said that THC was shown to be neuroprotective in regard to stroke.
Rats that were given THC had less brain damage occuring when stroke was induced, than rats that had no THC before stroke......
