So I'm brand new to this website and I love it so far. Everyone is mad cool and informative! I was 100% clean for almost 4 years but I picked up a moderate oxycodone habit after a surgery and have been on and off of them for 3 years. At my worst I was taking about 60mgs 2-3x's a day. So now, I have no physical dependance on them but I mentally miss that high so much and still use 2-3x's a month. I just got Red Vein Kratom in the mail and I took 5, 2500mg capsules about an hour ago and felt nothing. So I just took 2 more. I was sooooo excited from all the hype I've read abput Kratom but Im not feeling it. Should I take more? I took them on an empry stomach too. Any potentiators becides alcohol or benzos or opiates? TIA!!!

Hi, Welcome aboard! I was clean 8 years then had a surgery as well and became dependent again on opiates. I understand to some extent. I am going to move your thread to Basic Drug Discussion. We also have a Kratom Mega Thread V.4 available.

Kratom is probably the one drug I have not used. I know many folks have on BL. Best of luck moving forward. :)

Hey I'm new here also, but welcome!

Ok I've had a lot of experience with kratom. So first, where did you order it and what was the exact name or description of the kratom?

Second, when was the last time that you've done any opiates?

Sounds like you got some shitty kratom if you don't feel anything at all and you've quit using opiates.

Your dose is too low. I would start with 3or 4 grams. Also, I would just order bulk kratom as they're probably overcharging for the capsules and so much plain leaf kratom is in a dose you have to take alot of capsules, even if theyre double 0 or whatever. I always just did toss n wash or mix in juice. Also, be careful how often/ much you use as it does give withdrawals, much the same as any opioid, though they tend to be on the mild side.

You'll find different results with different types of kratom. I can't remember the source, but an online retailer has the major strains of kratom listed in a neat table along with the characteristics, e.g. analgesia, strength, etc. Because I've had to use narcotic pain meds for a chronic back condition, I'm currently using mostly Maeng Da in extracted or 'enhanced' form. I was surprised to find that at my dose of 4-5 10mg norco tablets per day, I could substitute about 10 grams of enhanced Maeng Da powder 3 times per day and get away with taking zero pain meds. In addition, I had zero withdrawal symptoms. The next day I was running low on the powder and still managed to take only 1 tablet with no wd sxs. I would encourage you to experiment with some of the more reputable retailers online to find what works best for you. As a former healthcare provider I find myself going back to the same retailer for the products I know work for me. The homework is to search around for the right guys. Somewhere in some Kratom thread there is an allusion to a liquid kratom extract product that I've just ordered that is reported to be very strong and effective, albiet somewhat pricey. Unfortunately some of the stronger products from the more established retailers are indeed expensive, but to me it's worth getting off the pain meds even temporarily. I'm happy to talk more about your unique situation if you have any other questions about products or use. Best of luck.

Kratom vs DOC for opiate related "depression"

Also a newbie but SWIM does have lots of experience with your problem there after 5 years daily on micro-dose Suboxone (avoid that like the plague btw), she had access to plenty of definitely-good-quality Kratom of various types and tried varying amounts up to about half a cup lol trying to fill that "hole" it seems we all have after long term opiate use. It never did provide the relief SWIM was looking for, mentally or physically, even after 11 months clean (I assume because of the high-tolerance for opiates SWIM so wisely accrued for herself :-) Anyway, SWIM struggled through the initial physical withdrawals the first two months only to find the mental utter-lack-of-joy-or-urge-to-do-anything-ever-again was still a huge problem that appeared to be dragging on forever. So far she's tried just about every non-opiate drug there is, legal or not, and nothing really helped long term until SWIM discovered DOC (oh beautiful holy grail of happiness lol). IDK if you've read about doctors trying micro-dose psilocybin mushrooms for treatment resistant depression but DOC is a different type of stimulant/hallucinogenic that has utterly changed SWIMs life over the course of a few weeks... and it's still relatively legal (joy) ..... For SWIM (and now also a few similarly messed up friends), one very VERY tiny dose each morning, unmeasureable in mg's I don't think, touch your tongue to the very tip of a toothpick and dip it in the powder size dose - once a day in the morning and preferably eat something with it. Any more than that and you start seeing pretty colors and everything starts looking a little "wavy"...... which is fine if you're just wanting to have some fun but not so good for going to work on lol. SWIM cannot stress how strong this stuff can be... and no telling what exactly your getting from any particular supplier either until you try it for yourself and titrate up from nearly nothing to whatever works for you. That said, SWIM's had a general depression problem for her entire life - taken every anti-depressant there is (and enjoyed all the lovely side effects), all to no avail - which is why SWIM got on the Suboxone in the first place, as the only affordable thing that really worked. Having no idea such a low dose (of this particular opiate anyway), could cause such a huge oxy-type problem but live and learn... SWIM and her little group of long-term depressed and/or detoxing friends are basically using themselves as guinea pigs to see first hand how well DOC works purely as an anti-depressant and so far the results have been wonderful. Zero want or need for any extra energy or focus or whatever it was SWIM used to get from the opiates. Can't speak about higher doses and using it for LSD type tripping but there's plenty of info about that around the Internet. Lastly, SWIM doesn't know for sure but going by personal experiences and the side-effects SWIM thinks long-term Kratom itself is close enough to an opiate to keep a person at least partially in that chemically screwed up opiate-brain zone even though physically/mentally it didn't feel like it was doing much at all. If that really is the case, even if it did work and it actually makes you feel better, you're still on something that's "flattening" out your normal creative mind (just like most of the normal anti-depressants), and I don't think that's something anyone actually desires. I hope this helps answer your question and best of luck to you and everyone in their efforts to find a way permanently back to real life. Peace and love :)

Holy shit I wish I read this about 6 months ago. I?m off the kratom. I?m on subs. One addiction for another. Still got that hole? I?m so fascinated to hear about this powder(?)/herb(?) you?re talking about! The thing is, am I not, yet again, switching to another substance to futilely fill that hole? Idk. For me, it?s all about progress, not perfection, right? I?m on a relatively high dose of suboxone, I think. 1, 8mg strip 4x daily. I?d like to replace this awful pharmaceutical with the substance you?re talking about. I have a few questions. You said it?s kind of legal? Does that mean in some states banned like kratom? If so, what states? If not, can you expand on what you mean by this? Also, where can I purchase this? Lastly, a huge reason I switched to suboxone from kratom was because of the astronomical amount of money I was spending on this product. I developed a massive tolerance and was spending well over $200 a week on it! Now I pay $20 a month for this new ball and chain. Kind of a no brainer. You know what I?m saying? Can you lmk about the cost? I?m gonna start researching this and see if I can come up with some answers on my own in case you don?t reply to this as I know this thread is very old. I hope you get a chance to read this and reply though! TIA!!!
