Trying MDMA for the first time ?

They're in PIHKAL, readily available online via erowid. Also I think our personal experience says it all tbh, especially because the mdma we have taken was tested. It's a common effect on the come up, someone else also said so at the beginning of the thread.

link it, i want to make sure i read the one you're talking about so you can't just pick a different one when i find its flaws.

Correlation does not = causation. The source of the argument was you spreading misinformation to someone who has no experience with the drug, just because you have had such experience does not mean everyone will.

The only variable in this study was the MDMA dosage.
Which implies causation, seeing as this is a controlled study.

Under qualitative comments you'll see that the R isomer seems less active than the S isomer and that neither alone are quite as good as the racemate, suggesting some kind of synergy. Read some other entries like MDA for example and you'll continue to see differences in effects between isomers. These are human trials so really mean a lot more than pumping high doses into rats and measuring various outputs, who even knows if rats get the same psychological experience from MDMA as a human does, in all likeliness they don't. Every human has a different experience with drugs especially psychedelics, so god knows how much different it is when you jump into the psyche of another species completely, regardless of how similar the physical effects produced may seem. Animal models are ok at best for observing physical effects and neurotoxicity maybe, for subjective psychological effects like anxiety they are totally useless

No, as everyone's reaction to a drug varies. There are millions of factors that can determine how the drug effects you, especially as it's a psychedelic.

These are based on the perceived experiences of one individual. Not quite a study. Also, this was not a "blind" study, leading to biases in the form of anticipated change of effects. When not a blind study, placebo becomes a big player.
Also, animals are commonly used in psychological testing, mice share over 95% of our DNA. Through the use of the Elevated Plus-Maze test, (a commonly used model of anxiety in animals) scientists in the study i cited were able to measure anxiety levels.
Look up the elevated maze test. The only disputes in its validity were countered by the fact that the psychopharmalogical paradigm connected to the conditions of tricyclic and SSRI antidepressant mechanism of action is flawed. MDMA is such a weak (borderline negligible) agonist at the 5HT1 receptor that it is highly unlikely that the anxiolytic effects of MDMA come from its action at that receptor.
There's a reason this study was accepted into the National Library Institute of medicine archives...

Could you describe how the come up feels possibly? Does it hit you pretty much straight away? I can understand how anybody would feel nervous as you're basically counting down the minutes from when you've taken the MDMA to when it will kick in but are there specific effects the MDMA has which causes the anxiety?

Thanks for the replies btw everyone, really appreciate it. :)

If you drop a dose straight all at once like most people do, usually between 30 min and 1.5 hrs from you dropping it, you will start to feel tactile enhancement, clammy hands, more talkative, then after another 10-30 mins of that BAM you are basically absorbed in it from then til 3-4 hrs later, the speed at which this happens seems to depend on your metabolism or stomach contents i guess (you should always not eat for 3 hrs at least before dropping to not lose any effects). It's before that initial clammy hands period that the anxiety was bad for me when I first started using MDMA, its just the anticipation of waiting for it to hit BUT i think the drug itself does have a roll to play in causing this effect from what myself and many others have experienced. it was after I'd used MDMA a bit more that the anxious period started being longer, lasting up til it hits you full on, I don't know quite why that is though but I know many people report it.. its much worse if you dont have anything to distract you during this period, i.e if youre not in a party setting and are focusing on the drug experience itself. id say as its your first time though just drop it all at once and youll be fine, make sure you take enough for a full on experience but not too much.. 120mg is about right and personally I find redosing dumb, it should be treated like any other psychedelic i.e dose, come up, plateau, come down. if youre interested in how to smooth the come up then you can dissolve the dose in water and drink slowly over 30 mins, this makes it come on gradually a little like alcohol, does weaken the peak slightly though

G,day Lopoko,
for me, MDMA never ever gave me a bad experience, and I took a lot. Even though I have a pretty high tolerance with MDMA, I am the opposite with weed, just a small amount can make me feel very uncomfortable/paranoid. So just because one substance can make you feel fearful/bad, doesn't necessarily mean a differant one (even a so called harder one) will also make you feel bad. As always, start with a small amount, better to have a half hearted experience and try more another time than over do it and regret it forever. I actually envy you having it for the first time, it will be absolutely awesome. Enjoy.

i've never known anyone in real life who had a bad experience on MDMA.
the bad experience occurs during the time after the MDMA use.

i turned green and lips turned blue from mdma. i have anxiety however, so if someone is prone to anxiety attacks beware with mdma!! i had a horrible panic attack on mdma.

Every time I am about to take mdma I get anxiety lol. Then I go for it, just before the come up I'm like 'oh fuck maybe I've taken too much!!!' Then I'm starting to feel this rush come on and I'm like 'this time I'm going to die! It's too much for me to handle!' Then fuck me I feel so good right now! Lol I suppose it's fear that I've done some damage maybe my body starts to think shot somethings wrong panic stations! But everything is always good, that's why I do it.

@MollyNewb
I remember your post. You didn't confirm it was MDMA. It was some random chemical that cause your vasoconstriction

Completely normal to feel nervous, I would suggest taking it at home in a comfortable environment with your friends for the first time. Will allow you to get a grip of what it feels like to be rolling without having to worry about things which you may do at an edm gig. Then when you go out and do it next time you will be able to enjoy it without having to worry about what it is going to feel like.
