Who knows if the claim that there is oxymorphone in the oriental poppy roots at 3% is true? And if so do the roots contain enough thebain to make it worth nothing? I read it on wiki. I have not found a paper on it myself shed some light anyone?

here is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxymorphone

I have no idea.

Would like to say though, that, wiki is not infallible.

Also the taxonomy of lesser Papaver specie is under debate, no?

False. You read the sentence wrong.

Oxymorphone is commercially produced from thebaine, [which is] a minor constituent of the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) but [thebaine is] found in greater abundance (3% ) in the roots of the oriental poppy (Papaver orientale).

What this is saying is that oxymorphone is produced from thebaine, and thebaine is found in greater quantities in the oriental poppy than in the opium poppy.

Pity thebaine is controlled, it's the gateway to so many cool compounds. The highly skilled can no doubt make bentley compounds, whereas the less skilled can still make oxycodone/oxymorphone or many other things. Pity they are all addictive!!!

That article is poorly written, IMO. The "subject hole" in the second phrase (after but) should be modified to point clearly at thebaine. I will edit this post to make it more technically proper but now I'm rather K-ish =D

^^Indeed. I have had dried pods with high amounts of thebaine in them and it was quite unpleasant.
