Tripping in another language

Does anyone have any experience tripping in a foreign language? Whenever I am tripping on LSD, all my conceptions of language begin to break down, so I am curious about what it would be like to communicate in a language other than one's native tongue.

Has anyone tried it? It's confusing enough when a sober person tries to communicate with me, I can barely imagine what it would be like if they were speaking an unfamiliar language!

Hmm I would guess learn a language and try it out. If that's what you want to do. You can't really trip in a language you have no knowledge of...speaking in tongues is a load of crap.

If those are the sorta thoughts you're having, you should do some reading on linguistics. There is a lot of material out there on multilingualism and bilingualism, and with some internet research you may find some valuable information. It would be an interesting neurolinguistic study, and a worthy comparison between a native multilingual and learned multilingual. FYI, I'm a linguistics graduate student. It's sort of a similar idea to the whole "speaking in tongues" thing, or those occurrences between vernacular language and religious language in diglossic societies (classical arabic in muslim communities, for example).

I haven't tried speaking another language while tripping, but the next time I find myself with conversation skills in another language I'll be trying that out for sure. What I have done is listen to audio books (since actually reading can be a little difficult when the words won't stay put) of texts in foreign languageas, as well as some others that stretch the limits of language (Finnegans Wake being a great example). It's very interesting, the things a tripping brain does with meaning at the edge of intelligibility.

I know english and german, only people I speak german too are my family and cousins. English technically isn't my first lanquage, but all of my friends speak it so its my main lanquaqe. I find it hard enough to speak english on high lsd doses, can't imagine myself having a conversation with one my fluent cousins while tripping.

Yeah i have a fair bit of experience with this. i highly recommend it, it makes for an interesting trip and it helps alot in the process of learning the foreign language.

Imho tripping in a foreign language faciliates to transcendend linguistic boundaries and helps you recognize what you really are, the manifestation of pure willpower within the arbitrary framework of constructed meaning ;)

do it ;)

I have some crazy notes in english that I made on a high dose of cubes. well, my mother tongue is german too. seems like I lost that but could still make sense of the english language...

haha, I've heard of people who've learned English as a second language losing it when they're drunk, but losing your mother tongue while tripping? wow.
