Tricks to help you remember 'mind movies' better?

So last night towards the end of an MDMA+2C-B evening, I had a good 20 minutes of little animations and pictures popping onto my eyelids. They were really good at the time but afterwards I can only remember a few of them.

Since I don't want to be getting out of the trance to be writing notes every time this happens, does anyone have any tricks on how to hang on to these images for later enjoyment? Have you adopted any strategies?

i'm interested to know how many people use tape recorders when they are tripping, i've never done it but it seems very logical.

Indeed, tape recorder is a good idea, but you can only really communicate fragments without breaking the 'spell' as Mjäll nicely puts it. Frequently the images come too fast and change frequently to possibly narrate them all. And drawing means you have to open your eyes and again the speed of output is the problem :/

I guess if I make more effort to record the thoughts it will get easier to hang onto them..

^ Yes, sort of like writing up your dreams. But I'm quite certain this is best done in retrospect, since your trying to communicate and retell the inner events will inevitably shape their course. After a while, you might get the hang of condensing your visions, and by then you've probably gotten to know yourself a lot better. An intriguing concept - too bad trips often feel way too confusing for me to even begin to describe the deeper aspects fully.

I'd say the best way to do it would be to work on your memorizing skills while sober. The human mind is already capable of memorizing long stories, the oral tradition sustained myth and religion far before the written word. I'd imagine it would be totally possible to remember all of those crazy morphing animations if you worked at it skillfully. Try playing with writing them down during, slightly after, and then long after, gradually improving your memory as you go on.

.

The same sort of memory-exercises (recalling and writing down) work well for dream recall as well.

This will surely break the "spell" of the visions, I think.

Only if you think it will. I record my experiences all the time and just speak outloud anytime I feel like something just happened worth remembering, it also helps to catch my random guitar playing throughout the experience, and any jokes, conversations held outloud. Basically I just set up a room mic to record all the sound in the room.

I also keep a detailed journal.

It's only gonna break the spell if you let it. You're the wizard after all...

Guys, you're never gonna capture it all. Worrying about breaking the spell is silly. Just talk outloud into a room mic based recording set up after you see something you want to remember. Until they invent VCRs of the MIND then at best you're only bringing back sparks from the raging fire. Better than nothing...

To me drawing is fun but it takes me out of the actual experience and gets in the way, same thing with writing (even tho I often pause to jot things down) , but taking a few seconds to utter aloud what I just experienced, or some funny thought, is the quickest, and least disruptive to the flow in my experience...but do whatever you like and works for you.

In the end, you're stealing fire, so whatever you can do to hang on to it, is what you gotta do.

It's hard for me to believe that you don't somehow (consciously or not) redirect the flow by constantly feedbacking what you're seeing. To each his own, though, of course.
