Treatment day ?

Hey
it's been a minute since i've posted here in my treatment blog. Just want to know that I've been a busy bee doing all kinds of service work here in the hab.
They got me washing dish's, and it seems like my treatment revolves around the kitchen. The good thing about that is ALL THE FOOD I WANT!!! and it's a good thing to get on the kitchen managers good side :).
Seriously I need to start working out, I've gained about 15lbs here. Cleaning my plate after every meal feels good. The food here is off the chain, and since I'm a dish washer I get to eat before everyone, and get first dibs on seconds.
This morning we had pancakes! They were all nice and fluffy :D.
Just been doing the treatment thing, I found out that I'm going to be doing the 90 day treatment, while most are doing 30 days. Thats a good thing because I don't really know any life skills to be on my own, and need to learn how to live in sobriety.
I made a list of all the things I need help in in, like my self esteem, pride, alcoholism and addiction, and much more. Hopefully my counselor will have a treatment plan set up for me on monday.
This was my first New Years in a program, and sober. It felt good!
Nothing exciting is going on today, just mainly kitchen work. I can jam out and wash dish's. My helpers are all pissed that they have to wash dish's because they got in trouble and were had to wash dishs. Me I get $60 this week for washing, so it all works out. I like kitchen work, it's peaceful and I don't have to deal with the other clients/people.
good shit

Ya prick! I want fluffy pancakes now too! :D
Do you think they might move you up the food chain (no pun) and let you do some cooking? I started off at a cafeteria at a college and you learn a lot (mostly how to be under pressure mass producing the menu for hundreds of people)

I hope since you are the main dishwasher that you have control of the tunes you all listen to. Power RULES!

Hopefully my counselor will have a treatment plan set up for me on monday.

This sounds like a decent place you are at. They may devise an after treament plan for you as well that will help you with 'life skills' (ie halfway house, recovery house)

This post made me smile. You've gone from watering down free/stolen 'creamer' and calling it 'milk' to getting pretty much as much real food as you could ask for. Happy days!

If you're feeling up to it, get started on working out. Does your place have a 'grounds' where you could go for a run? Perhaps the staff might have some suggestions there. It would also be pretty easy to start on some bodyweight resistance work. Start with proper push ups for your chest and triceps; squats, lunges and side lunges (couldn't find a vid for that one-- same as a lunge, but you go to the side-- make sure your knees don't go past your ankle) for your legs; and if you don't have access to a chin up bar (or are like me and can't do a chin up to save your life) then you could try some modified dips for your back and shoulders. I couldn't find a video for dips, but you'll need three chairs: one for each hand and one for your feet. Support yourself on the chairs so that your feet are slightly above parallel when your arms are fully extended (use additional props like telephone books to raise your feet if necessary). Lower yourself as deeply as you comfortably can-- you should feel a bit of a stretch in your front shoulders as well as some tension in your back shoulders-- and then push back up to the starting (straight arm) position. Do each rep fairly slowly, both in the down and up movements.

When you're doing resistance work, you'll want to do the exercises in sets. So rather than just doing an exercise until you are tired and then stopping, you do a certain number of reps (repetitions) per set, stop and rest for a short while (a minute or so), and then do another set. Until you know what you're capable of doing, it will take a while to figure out how many sets of how many reps to do per exercise. Try starting with 3 sets of 10 reps, and going from there. If you can't make it to 10, then do as many as you can without sacrificing form. Then try to do 3 sets of that many reps. The key is to push yourself without hurting yourself. Oh, and don't forget to stretch when you're done. It is best to stretch your muscles while they're still warm. Trust me, if you skip stretching and you've done a good, hard workout, you'll be sore as hell the next day.

Thanks,
Yeah this place isn't to bad for costing nothing. Theres a place in Bessemer that cost $500 and it doesn't have half the stuff this place does. Here atleast you can listen to any music, have CD players, mp3's, computers and even record players.
Pretty much your on your own here. You have to go to a few classes a day (sept for Wensday I have over 10 classes). The weekends are chilled out. Not much going on, and for the first 2 weeks I'm on "Lock Down" and cant leave the property unless I'm with a counsler. Theres people here that's working the program and then theres those that arn't doing shit sept holding a bed.
Wish that guy from Florence was around here. Would be cool to be in rehab with another blue lighter.

Getting a tattoo today, I could get all sleved up for $50 for both arms, and its damn good work. Insted I'm going to get something, don't know on my chest. something like thug life or something. haha not, don't know yet.

Don't get a tattoo on a whim man, you'll regret it. Any good place will do a temp tattoo for you if you ask for it. Get that done first, and see how you like having your design on you 24/7 for a few days. If you're not annoyed by it by then, then start thinking about getting it properly done.
