I have been on tramadol for a week or so and I am starting Parnate tomorrow which is an irriversable MAOI. Do you think a day would be long enough to lose any seriton9in reuptake inhibition caused by the tramadol?>
Thanks

Considering the sideeffects that I felt after 6 days on tramadol (200 mg in a single dose each day), I would recommend a bit more. Maybe 2-3 days, to be on the safe side.

Edit: ...But I'd like to add that tramadol itself is removed quite fast from the body due to extensive liver metabolism. My estimation of 2-3 days safety-period are solely due to the aftereffects that I felt.

Considering that a combo of SSRI + MAOI can be very dangerous I would definitelt say wait. Better yet, ask your doc.

One day is definitively too short, while the half life of Tramadol is 6h,its metabolite has it at 8h.If its not SR!So 2-3 days is recommended.

I talked to the Pharmisist and she seemed to think I would be ok at about 40 hours since my last dose. I had some, feeling a little itchy and sweaty but I have a fevor at the moment and it could just be the parnate, I think I will survive.
Thanks for your replies
