Tramadol Induced Mania

Due to new laws in my state the only thing close to a real pain med that doctors will prescribe me is Tramadol (which is controlled in my state). It's okay for pain but has been throwing me into extreme manic states. I told this to my GP who thinks I'm just playing her to get real opioids, so she wants to "treat" this "bipolar" reaction instead of switching me meds. I only ever have these reactions to SSRI/SNRI class and never have these psych issues when I am psych drug free. I don't want to ruin my body treating side effects to a bad drug with a dosage limit anyway. Any advice?

Instead of telling her it makes you go crazy, tell her it's not effectively treating your pain and you don't like the side effects it's causing that way she has to switch the script and your not lieing, I don't see why she would be reluctant to give you something like hydrocodone instead of tramadol there's not a huge difference and as long as you use as prescribed your GP should have no worries. If that doesn't work I would suggest going to another GP and tell them you have tried tramadol and it has nasty side effects and you want another option for pain management.
