Tramadol and Severe Constipation

Hi folks,

I recently just got scripted for Tramadol after my surgery and one question would be, is that if I take the recommended dose being 50mg per day, will this cause severe constipation that it might obstruct the bowel system?

I am afraid of this as I used information from below from Wikipedia:

Adverse effects and drug interactions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramadol#Adverse_effects_and_drug_interactions

Constipation can be severe especially in the elderly requiring manual evacuation of the bowel.

No i find tram doesnt bring about as much of this as other opiates. There is a huge thread on tram stickied on bdd all you need to know is in there.

Last month I got out of surgery and was on percocet for a month. Sever constipation ensued but can be contributed to the morphine and hospital stay. Only after I ran out of percs did the constipation end. Highly unlikely that Tramadol as prescribed will give u constipation
