Tramadol and OC

In terms of tramadol and oxycodone interaction:

GENERALLY AVOID: Concomitant use of tramadol increases the seizure risk in patients taking other opioids. These agents are often individually epileptogenic and may have additive effects on seizure threshold during coadministration. CNS- and respiratory-depressant effects may also be additive. In patients who have been previously dependent on or chronically using opioids, tramadol can also reinitiate physical dependence or precipitate withdrawal symptoms.

MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of tramadol and other opioids should be avoided in general. Tramadol should not be used in opioid-dependent patients, and use in patients who are chronically on opioids is also not recommended. Tramadol is contraindicated in patients with acute opioid intoxication. Tramadol dosage should be reduced if it must be used in patients receiving opioids. Patients should be monitored for development of seizures and CNS and respiratory depression.

well i mean anyone have other experience?

I was planning on taking the tramadol tonight to avoid WD symptoms till i can be set tomm. So my new Q is... is it okay to take tramadol after a good 5-6 hours after consumption of OC......

I'm trying it today as a matter of fact, but it will be mixed with some hydro too.

I take tram and hydro all the time. I take about 150-200mg orally (50mg every 45min - 1 hour).

Then about three hours later I plug the hydro (15-20mg). This is because it takes a while for the tram to metabolize into the opiate...

It would be ok just dont take too much tramadol. Tramadol will helps with minor w/ds but it is not a good idea to take tramadol for withdrawls from an opiete that you have been takeing longterm.

You can do it, but in my opinion, tramadol should not be mixed with other opioids. But you may not give a shit about my opinion and that's ok. :D

Tramadol itself has a half life of 5-7 hours. And the main opioid metabolite is 9 hours. There are a couple of other metabolites that are 9 hours as well.

So ur saying i should wait 8-9 hours after i popped the OC to then take the tramadol? I am familiar with it as i was prescribed 400MG a day and it helped ALOT i mean ALOT with OC WD's especially tthe RLS i get from WD's.

So in closing you guys are saying you take it together (an opiate plus tram) or that i should wait 8-9 hours for the OC half life to end?

Thanks again guys

Oxycodone has a half life 3 to 4.5 hours. If you are taking extended release oxycodone, known under the brand name, Oxycontin, this is obviously increased as the drug is slowly released. If you are ingesting the entire dose at once, half life is at most going to be 4.5 hours. Tramadol and it's metabolites are 9 hours.

If you are feeling oxycodone withdrawal, then it's safe to take tramadol to combat those withdrawals. But mixing the two can be sketchy. Seriously. If you take tramadol first, you shouldn't feel a need to dose with oxy until around 18 hours after tram was used.
